Fix comskip markers and cut commercials

I use comskip and it does a pretty good job of detecting commercials for me. I leave the detected segments in because it does mess up once and awhile. For some of my content that I want to permanently archive, I'd like to fix the bad markers and then permanently remove the commercials.

I can't find any real answer on how to do this other than to buy a package like videoredo... I'd prefer not to spend the money on it if I don't have to.... what are my other (hopefully free) options?

thanks!

I've never found an option that works > 50% of the time - other than videoredo.

I think that one of the command line programs (e.g., ffmpeg) will "read in" an edl file and use it to chop out segments. However, it's never worked well for me and I always had to babysit the files to ensure they worked well.

I have not found anything that works as well as VideoReDo. Find the commercials using comskip and cut them using VideoReDo! IMHO it is well worth the money.

This is something that I'll probably only use once every month or two.. just can't see spending the 50 dollars on VideoReDo for something I will hardly use.

Is there any other options such as a video editing program or something that will work but isn't really designed to do this... i don't mind spending a bit of time to account for a cheap/free option.

You could convert to MPEG2, then edit it with any number of tools.
