I like the different backgrounds but the for some reason the orange highlight just looks washed out and bad on my screen. I was fine with the stock selection color :P

I'm no expert but I think this new update broke Sage>Videos>Folders>Options. Instead I get a swirling circle and then it opens up some program information screen that looks like it came from STV3.xml.

Thanks.

It should not be possible for a theme to cause that kind of problem. You should try restarting Sage server to see if that clears it up.

Bialio,

The restart solved the problem. You're right, it must have been caused by some other bug that just happened to coincide with the plugin upgrade. If it happens again, I'll submit a bug report. Have to give those Sagetv guys a break, I've submitted like 5 reports already.

Hi Bialio,

I like what you have going here, especially the removal of the 'piping' from the screens. I know it's a lot to ask, but is there any chance you might be able to post a simple "how-to" for creating a theme for submission to the plug-in library? I've been working one myself, and would love any tips to make it ready for submission!

Thanks!

There is a guide on how it all works -

http://download.sagetv.com/DevelopingSageTVPlugins.doc

Basically you create a Zip file with the following directory structure:

Themes/PGPTheme/<all your modded files>

Then follow the directions in the document to create the manifest and test it.

Here's the Serenity manifest for reference :

Code:

<SageTVPlugin>

  <Name>Serenity</Name>
  <Identifier>themeserenity</Identifier>
  <Description>Serenity Theme for SageTV V7.
  </Description>
  <Author>bialio</Author>
  <CreationDate>2010.05.20</CreationDate>
  <ModificationDate>2010.05.25</ModificationDate>
  <Version>1.0</Version>

<Dependency>
  <STV>SageTV7</STV>
  <MinVersion>7.0</MinVersion>
</Dependency>

<PluginType>Theme</PluginType>

<Package>
  <PackageType>STVI</PackageType>
  <Location>http://serenitybybialio.googlecode.com/files/STV7.serenity.theme.1.0.zip</Location>
  <MD5>4872da66d09afaeed5d0da1c24a08cb8</MD5>
</Package>

<ReleaseNotes>1.0 Full release, highlites changed to orange, grey PVC removed, OSD modified
0.2 Updated a few more button assets to 'serenity orange'
0.1 Original release
</ReleaseNotes>

</SageTVPlugin>

I guess I'm not the only one who had a problem with Serenity and 7.0.12! Screen was a mess, luckily I was able to blindly uninstall Serenity by clicking around. I love the orange hilighting, hope to see an update soon (please and thank you).
Rob
PS- How come Sage didn't have an incompatibility message when I went to reinstall Serenity after upgrading to 7.0.12? I thought the Plug-in manager did that?

PPS- I like orange so much, I changed the right and left arrows to orange. Here they are if anyone wants them. Just drop them into STVs\Themes\Standard SDTV if I recall. (Search for the files right.png and left.png and replace)

SageTV doesn't see the theme plugin as incompatible. The issue is that I had a glitch in my thinking while overhauling the theme system & didn't build in a way to automatically revert to the default theme when an old style theme was loaded.

I'm pretty sure you'll have to wait for bialio to update the theme. The Diamond theme was updated within a day so, without really knowing what I'm talking about with the coding, the changes required may not be that time consuming so hopefully he can do it soon too. LOL

I don't think I realized how nice the serenity theme was until I had to go back to stock. The colors are so much better on the Serenity theme!

So great job on the theme! I'll patiently wait for it to be updated and switch back to it when it is.

What I did was I made a copy of the Standard theme and then pasted in a copy of all the images from the Serenity folder. I then renamed the copy of the Standard theme to Serenity.

In my testing so far it looks like this update to the STV fixes lets the existing Serenity theme work.

I uninstalled the serentiy theme from the plugin manager, reverting to the standard theme,
and then shut down both sagetv and the service. I then upgraded to 7.0.12 directly over my old 7.0.11 installation. I then upgraded the stv from sage (in post 37 in this thread that bialo suggests), and then re-installed the serenity theme.

it appears all is well. . .thanks so much bialo, i love this theme btw. . .

I'm using Bialio's Serenity theme and I love the orange highlighed bars it has.

When using the Malore menu's for recordings, the menu bar goes back to being a light grey.

I was wondering if this was something that needs changing in the malore menu or in the theme itself. I've been using this since you updated the malore menu's and have only noticed this today!

Hi doc,

I think with the recent update of the Malore screens in V7 a new theme image was introduced (MaloreHighlight.png). This is not covered in the Serenity theme yet.
