SageTV V7 MAC OSX

Just curious if there is a timeline for the beta release for SageTV V7 for MAC. I search the forums for a while and could not find very much about it. Interested in upgrading but have an spare MAC Pro that I'd like to be into good use.

Thanks,

Craig Hickman

here's to hoping the Mac version will make it out before the long weekend (in the States) next weekend!

Same here, since v6 Placeshifter doesn't handle HD-PVR recordings well.

Off the topic a little, but I'm curious - how many Mac users of SageTV are there? Anyone have a guess?

I use Placeshifter on my Macbook Pro and my iMac. I have considered building a server out of my Mac Mini Server, but the cost of having to buy several new tuners and another Sage license keeps me from doing it.

Whatever the numbers of Mac users I suspect that the majority like me are using their Macs with Client or Placeholder licences & a Windows SageTV Server. It's no fault of Sage but there are more brands & types of TV tuner supported under Windows than either Mac or Linux.

Sorry to hear about your problem but you are not alone. AES (Apple Enfatuation Syndrome) is highly contagious and once infected is extremely difficult to cure. AES attacks the logic center of the brain causing the infected person to believe that anything with that little logo on it is worth 30% more than competing products. It also leaves the infected person more suceptible to "the messiah syndrome" where they suddenly believe any thin white male who wears black clothing must be believed without question and worshiped as "the knower of all things cool".

What makes the disease particularly difficult to cure is that people infected with AES feel the urge to stay in the company of other infected people, which reinforces the disease's symptoms and causes re-infection even if proper eradication measures are taken.

There are no proven cures for AES but research suggests that the symptoms fade over time as the infected person slowly realizes the seriousness of the condition and the negative effect is has on his or her personal financial situation.

When you are ready to face the issue I can recommend several rehab programs that utilize a combination of the 12 step method, Zen meditation and Tequila.

Some of that is true but I have to admit you get what you pay for. This new macbook is the first apple computer I have owned in over 10 years back when they where just mac . This laptop is the best laptop I have owned in years the video quality is unbelievable as is the battery life still amazes me. In the end for me it comes down to customer service (part of the reason I like sage so much). I couldn't figure something out on my apple I went to the website and hit call me and within 1 minutes a ENGLISH speaking individual called me and walked me right through it no matter what you say about apple that is pretty darn impressive. I have stayed on hold for 45 minutes many times for Windows just to get someone I couldn't understand on the other side as a OEM that is highly frustrated. I also use to be a crackleberry addict but after having an iphone I could never go back and the iphone 4 with video chat are you kidding me being able to see my kid when I am out of town on work using wifi at the hotel unbeatable to me.

Like I said I am a windows person still but slowly starting to bleed the apple or AES as you call it .
