Yep... it is an apple centric pole, since the intention was not to se options in platforms, but interest in number of people. I would guess that an Android port for a placeshifter should be easier since Android development is in (almost) java. Iphone/IPAD development is Objective C which would require more effort.

Still I have alot of Idevices, so I would like to see support. Currently using Orb, and Air Video to stream my Sage stuff. Orb is better in placeshitfting on 3g, Air Video is better on local WIFI (better quality). It is ridiculous to run three severs to stream the same content.

BTW the Ipad is the perfect streaming client, its battery last at least 4 to 5 hours of wifi streaming which is better than anything close to its form factor. The IPS screen makes it look great. Too bad the Aspect Ratio is 4:3

True, which is why a TRUE placeshifter app would be so nice. You could make a custom STV that made good use of the 4:3 aspect by filling the letterbox areas with playback controls and other info.

Why only clients? There is currently a SageTV V6 Server product that runs on OS X.

Apple seems to be pushing towards making their iOS everywhere including even rumors of having a flavor of it on iMacs plus having it on a future version of their Apple TV "hobby" product.

If Sage does anything this "late" in the game in terms of supporting a mobile platform, I would strongly encourage supporting iOS as a priority. I'm sure it's not trivial to create, but they could probably create themselves a nice side revenue stream via the app store especially given the explosion of iOS devices around these days (e.g. they just surpassed 100 million iOS devices).

I agree. If I were advising SageTV I'd say make official support for:

1. iOS4
2. Android
3. Whatever else....
I say this because of the # of users out there for iOS4 - that and my house has too many of those blasted iDevices at the moment

And I do hope they eventually bring Mac support back into the fold as well.

Clients are lower on my priority list, than getting a V7 Server for Mac. Sadly, as pointed out, that option isn't in the poll. In an ideal world, the V7 Server and client for Mac would release at the same time.

iDevice support, no matter what your device/OS preference, is great, but I do my TV watching on TVs. I watch movies or recorded TV content on my iDevices, when I'm traveling. I spend very little time at my desk, on my couch, etc., wishing I could watch live TV on my iDevice.

What my iDevice is very useful for, when sitting on my couch, is remote controlling the computer, that my TV is hooked to, that runs Sage. My computers are all Mac, hence my interest in Mac Sage.

Sure, I could use extenders instead of computers, but then I couldn't do general computing on the same device. In the locations I have TVs, it's handy to have computer access as well.

One HD200 plus one iPad at each TV should do it:-)

I would love to get a new mac mini server edition, then double that as a SageTV Client!
One machine with low power consumption, doing web/mail/agenda/contacts server PLUS SageTV.

hmmm looking at the rumors for the new AppleTV, complete with app store, i might change to wanting a Placeshifter/Client app for the iPhone/iPad.

The rumored $99 device price +Netflix app +Boxee app +Hulu app +SageTV app +iTunes Remote = the end of my consolidation needs.

Mac client v7??

Beating the dead horse here. WAITING for even some mention of a release plan for the v7 mac client. HDx00 is great! Except for those rooms with a Mac, not a TV.

Ya know I just ordered 6 more extenders so now I am upping my investment another $900. Plex just came out and has a lot of nice features. It supports my 4 apple pc's my 2 iphones and my 3 ipads. That alone covers more devices than the extenders I just ordered. Sure it doesn't do TV but mostly we just use SageTV as a movie library. At least some acknowledgement that OSX will again be supported would be nice. We still don't know IF it will be not when?!

iPad development is probably never going to happen which is a real shame and in my opinion a bonehead business move. It could be the first nail in the coffin...

I understand your frustration. But I don't expect we'll see any info on an OSX, iPhone, or iPad SageTV implementation until (if) it is ready to go. As said above that's just the way it is.

Off Topic: You have FOUR Apple computers? Wow - that's a lot of cash on Apple computers.
