Imac on the counter for the kids and wife in the kitchen, my laptop, her laptop and an Imac on my desk. It is just good stuff. I was a PC guy for a long long time and now I won't go back. I run windows 2003 as my sage server and I toyed with windows 2008 but either I am getting old or they have totally ruined the usability of that product!

I respect your choice. And your pocketbook
I have 2 iPhone4's 1 iPhone 2GS (gave to daughter as hand-me-down), 1 iPod Touch, 1 iPod Classic (wife's) 1 iPod Nano 2Gen and an iPad. So I spent more than enough with Apple - a great American company. But as much as I've used the Apple computers, I really don't like them and personally don't like the way they work. But different folks like different things and that's what makes the world go round'.

Thanks I wasn't really trying to brag. But I will say that the TCO (and I realize people talk about TCO and it is usually BS) seems much lower. I just like the apple design and I really like how hassle free a lot of things are. My kids love the ipads and use up netflix like it is going out style at ages 5 and 3! I got an android phone to deal with my ATT frustrations and it is significantly more complicated than the iPhone. My kids can voice record, take pictures, view pictures, and record videos along with play games and do other things without any help from my wife and I on our iphones. Give my kids the droid and they don't know where to start.

Where is the love...

I had been using Mythtv for years and recently made the switch to Sagetv mostly because of the supported MAC placeshifter.

I hope SageTV does not abandon support in V7...

IMHO Sage will not abandon the Mac users. My guess is that they are concentrating on getting the bugs ironed out of V7 by focusing on Windows and Linux versions and will only release a Mac version near the end of the Beta cycle. Just a guess on my part....

honestly, v6 is running too good for me, that is why i have been itching for the Mac server v7.

i just want to hear confirmation that a mac version of the server is either coming or not, that allows me to start to think about the future/internet based media in addition to all my OTA recordings.

Brent, in terms of cost, my three Macs (all laptops) cost me less than my storage array did. oldest one is going on 5 years old, newest one 3. $999 a pop, and i still have no real reason to upgrade my home computer beyond the original 1.8/2.0 ghz Core2's - i let work buy the powerful stuff.

that's $20 a month if you average out cost v. computing time (a 5 year old, 4 year old and 3 year old = 12 years of computing for $3000) and $20 is less than i spend on coffee each month

Anyone surprised that this poll sort of reflects that more forum members want iOS apps then they do OSX version of SageTV?
Are OSX SageTV users really that scarce?

I am not surprised. Didn't apple release numbers saying that iOS devices or iPad's specifically outsold laptops last quarter? People can still use PC's in their corporate jobs or roles but enjoy a nice iPhone and or iPad when at home. Everyone who comes to my house and picks up one of the kids iPads can't believe how wonderful it is! Any current raffle or give away I see online or TV is for a iPad. It is the hot item!

I'd love Placeshifter for Mac. Android support would be pretty sweet too!

Apparently the V6 Mac Placeshifter works with a V7 SageTV Server. Unfortunately I have V6 Mac Clients so either have to dump those & buy V6 Placeshifter licences or wait until a V7 Mac Client is available.

not at all really. i think there are more windows users with iphones/ipads than os x users with sage.

i still want my os x version of sage7 server though i'm really getting annoyed at the stability of server v6.

I used my slingbox with the hd100 the other night to watch big brother with the wife outside while eating crabs. We really wanted to watch it and didn't have another way to do so. It was very awesome!

Anyone notice 7.0.17 is RC but no mention of OSX client? I am getting pretty pretty nervous here folks....

Barely, very often it's unusable.

yeah, i think i am pretty much resigned that my mac-based Sage server is dead @ v6. It is time to start hunting out another solution. I'm still off EyeTV due to its not compliant mpg recording (*.eyetv file format as a default?!?) and the issues with scheduled recordings and favorites....

Do you guys use Mac as an actual ClientPC or only as Placeshifter?

I would think supporting Placeshifter for V7 would be easier for SageTV than Client... Just wondering.

I never setup the place shifter personally so I have no idea how that works I was just using a client on my laptop for debugging and some light watching of videos. I just think it is lousy to drop support for a platform that is growing and not shrinking...

Plex looks like a decent alternative for a home media system. It supports all the OSX and iOS devices. It has been covered extensively on multiple HT blogs. Of course if the Apple TV product comes out or Google TV appliance it could be the game changer that made my recent investment in HD300's moot.

I have a mac client never work well enough for me. A functional place shifter would be all I need.

Mac Placeshifter for me. I use HD300 as the client.

plex and boxee are great for what they are, but the majority of my viewing is still OTA recorded stuff, which neither handles elegantly.
