DTS in MKV Playback issue

I can't get an MKV file with DTS audio to playback correctly. I get an exception with the audio renderer. Everything worked fine in 6.

Use Directshow Player is set in the setup menu for mki, avi, etc.

I'm using FFDShow for audio, which is set correctly.

I've tried the usual of selecting different Audio Render hardware and codec combo's but nothing seems to work.

I do not have any issues playing DTS back from a DVD rip however.

Any thoughts before I submit a bug report?

Everything else about 7 works great!

You know..this might not be related but I'll just throw it out there. I just noticed some audio troubles with a few of my mkv files with dts sound. I use an HD200 for playback and although the audio plays it skips, for lack of a better description. These files played fine in v6...so I'm not sure what it could be, or if it's even related to your problem.

Hmm, good to know. I'll be trying the latest ffdshow tryout soon to see if it resolves my issue.

I'm having pretty much the exact same problem. Everything was working great in V6 but now the audio lags or just doesn't work on some of my videos.

Everything runs fine under media player. I still can't get it perfect like it used to be.

I am using an ATI 5850 with HDMI to my reciever and found I had either audio decoding errors or only stereo output with my DTS MKVs (DD were ok) until I set the following in the SageClient.properties file,

videoframe/dca_audio_decoder_filter=Ac3filter

It was blank so I just used the same filter as this line,

videoframe/audio_decoder_filter=Ac3filter

(Which is set directly in settings I think)

I use Ac3filter to pass SPDIF (DD/DTS) over HDMI to my receiver using all the latest 10.4 Catalyst drivers without problems. I have all my MKV's with DD/DTS showing up on my receiver with DD/DTS now.

I don't recall a DCA setting (Sagetv lists DTS audio as DCA in the file information dialogue) in V6 client properties but it could have been there. I guess you could use FFDShow audio decoders if they support passthrough SPDIF like AC3filter but I haven't tried it and I am not familiar with it as AC3filter has always worked for me.

I am using the built in Microsoft Video Decoder for H264 and record tv using multiple HD-PVRs and I get 5.1 DD output on those no problems.

Hope this helps.

I had the same problem with not being able to render the audio content on one of my Sage clients (interestingly enough only on one of the three I am using). I had to add the AC3Filter to the aac_audio_decoder_filter and ac3_audio_decoder_filter as well to get it to work with all my video files.

Since moving to Sage 7 to test it out I have also noticed any DTS audio keeps cutting in and out on my HD200. Has anyone contacted Sage support about this issue yet?

This has been an ongoing problem for months. Their newest beta firmware does not fix the problem (even though they mention it).

We have zero test data from people with this problem after the latest firmware. It works perfect with all the test files we have here that had the problem before. So please submit a bug report if you're having this issue.

Just to confirm that I am still seeing the DTS audio problem on my HD200 even with the latest beta firmware. The problem has changed subtly as it used to manifest itself as audio distortion but is now dropouts. It is severe enough that it is impossible to watch the video as it's not just the odd dropout that I could live with but happens every few seconds. I too can provide samples although as they are BluRay rips they are pretty enormous in size.

Make some test rips that last only a minute or split the files you have now - you should be able to use existing tools to split most container formats.

DTS in MKV Playback issue

I have the same problem on 2 computers I just upgraded to SageTV v7. One of my computers is SageTV Media Center using SageTV Service on Win 7 Ultimate 32 bit and the other is SageTV Client on Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

A friend of mine also uses SageTV and he has the same problem, while browsing the forum he found this thread:

http://forums.sage.tv/forums/showthr...2&postcount=11

I did a search in the registry for 'EnableSageTVStreamDemux' on my Win 7 32 bit system and change the setting from 1 to 0, rebooted the system and am now able to playback mkv file with DTS audio.

I then did the same search in the registry on my Win 7 64 bit system, change the setting from 1 to 0, rebooted the system but the playback still does not work on mkv files with DTS audio.
