V2.0.17 RC2 will be out Friday 4/23
Howdy all,
Wanted to let you know in advance that RC2 will be out tomorrow, which is Friday.....unless someone submits some new nasty bug by then which I can't fix quick enough....but let's hope that no such bugs exist. See you tomorrow with RC2.

Woohoo, it the requisite "When will we see 2.0.17" thread, but you kind of took the suspense out of it Jeff

I can't let him beat us to the punch again... Any idea when 2.0.18 will be out?

Well, I have a "bug" which I have had since the beginning: The beta refuses to accept my security key, even though it is valid for V1.4. I have tried every beta, but is always the same. Now that V2 seems to be approaching Gold status, I am really getting worried that I will be shut out from using it. I may have to buy V2.

2.0.16 has been pretty good. The biggest problems have been: (1) Some confusion in Sage Recordings, sometimes "ghosts" stay around for a while, sometimes multiple episodes only show up as 1 (old) episode; (2) Conflicts won't go away if you "do nothing" and also all symmetrical "single-instance overrides" aren't displayed as choices (only overrides which favor the show currently not being recorded).

There still is no way to add a list of folders containing audio files (e.g. wma, mp3, etc...) I can browse to the folder containing sub folders (each folder is created by Windows Media Player with the artist name and album), but nothing shows up in the list in Sage TV 2.0.16 (RC1)
DVD folders (archived DVDs) works fine, but there is no way to modify the attributes (e.g. running time, title, additional moive info such as a short description and DVD lable). |

Thank you, Dan for providing this info. I tend to go crazy wondering when we will see the next release.

Niles,
You can add an audio file folder as one of your library paths. These should appear in your music jukebox. Keep in mind though that Sage does not support WMA files so these will not show up. If your MP3's are not appearing, they probably need to be re-tagged. Sage can only read ID3 V1 tags I believe. (Honestly I can't remember so I alsways make sure my MP3's have both 1 and 2.) You can use a program like MP3 Tag Tools or The Godfather to retag them. |

Personally speaking I think Sage should start work on a deal with some of the codec manufacturers to do a bundled mpeg codec, also to my ears Sage sounds more compressed/muffled than other audio apps I have.

Sage is using the same encoding engine as every other PVR that uses the 250. Try out some different audio decoders. I am told the Hauppauge Intervideo decoder is not that good but I use it and am happy so I guess it is in the ear of the listener?

HA! I love that the inevitable 'Is 2.0.x to be released today?' thread has been preemted. That's very entertaining.
Can I preempt Mongoose's 'RC2 Experiences' thread? |

So when he says Friday I assume he means by 11:59 PM CST
Not that it matters to me until tomorrow anyway since all 4 PVRs will busy recording tonight anyway. I happy because all my bug issues have been addressed according to the messages I received in response to my bug submissions. John

Well... the release notes are there...
- Andy Edit: A couple changes I like: - Can change # of days in advance that SageTV schedules recordings. - TV command toggles between vide/menu views again.

Dan, that's quite interesting....I don't know what to make of that.
And wait until I've updated the beta page to start downloading or you'll only get a partial installer, I'm assuming you all can guess the download path of the new build by now and won't wait for a link.
