Help creating plugin for Version 7

I created the OSDClock plugin a long time ago and have added the OSDPlaytime piece into it and updated it for Sage 7. The problem is that the mehtod I've been using for importing is based on an old set of tools named df_sageutils. I'd like to redo the code before submitting it to use no dependencies if possible or only current tools like gkusnick's if not. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to find a widget by name not symbol. Is there something for that in the default api that I'm missing?

My Tools Library includes an API extension for finding widgets by name and type.

That said, though, why do you need to? If you're just adding children to an existing parent widget in the stock STV, the built-in UID File Difference and STVI generator can generate the import-time search-and-insert code for you, with no runtime dependencies. (And it does it by symbol rather than by name, so it's more immune to STV changes.)

I kind of figured it out, but I'm glad you reminded me and confirmed my thoughts. I created that plugin way back in the 5.x days so I was just trying to translate the old stuff. I forgot about the new tools. I just submitted so I'll know soon if it worked right.
