Question SageTV + Hauppuage 1250 + Any STB = Three Second Delay

Hi,
I have a Hauppauge 1250 and I have used multiple Media Centers and I like Sage the best. The problem is Comcast is making us switch to digital and you wont get barely any channels without a DTA (digital terminal adapter) + you will get more channels with it. The thing is SageTV has a 3 sec delay when I'm watching the tv so when i press a button on the DTA remote it doesn't come up until 3 seconds later. ATI Catalyst Media Center doesnt have this problem though, but it doesn't support STBs so I want to use sage. I am also thinking about upgrading to a 2250. Will that fix the problem, if not how can i fix it so there is no delay? If I upgrade to the 2250 I am going to get 2 DTA's and plug them into a channel combiner.

The delay is because the SageTV server is encoding the video from your DTA into an MPEG-2 stream (via the 1250) and then streaming it to the SageTV client and decoding it for playback. That encode-stream-decode cycle takes a small amount of time, hence the delay. (Note that even if your "client" and "server" are on the same PC, they still run as independent processes or threads).

The same process will occur no matter what encoder/tuner card you use. Different recording and playback hardware combinations might decrease or increase how much delay you perceive, but there will always be some delay.

I just want the delay as little as possible... Would a video card help with reducing the delay... Do you use a STB? If you do what tuner card do you use?
