Dishnetwork VIP 722

I have a VIP 722. I seem to have everything working but the remote. I can't seem to control the TV. I have a Hauppauge 1600 (1199). I hooked up the IR, but nothing. Any ideas or advice?

Hauppauge 1600 remote

Can anyone help me get my remote to work? I have looked at the irremote file but I don't see anything in their related to SageTV. I have Dishnetwork and a VIP722. I have it working with a Hauppauge 1600 (1199), but the only thing that is stopping me from purchasing SageTV is this remote. Any ideas? And instructions out there?

Thanks,
Chris

I think the VIP 211 have higher IR frequencies than other devices so may not work with regular transmitters. From memory something about 56KHz? Don't quote me on that!

I use a USBUIRT to pilot my VIP 211s and all works fine.

Thanks for the reply. I have read about the USBUIRT, but I'm afraid to spend the money and still have it not work. My question is, do I need to do something in the Hauppauge IR Blaster config to get it to work with SageTV, or should SageTV do that for me when I set it up?

Thanks for any input.

Chris

I believe there is nothing you can do on the software side. The hardware (Hauppauge IR Blaster) simply isn't capable of blasting IR at the correct frequency to pilot the dish network receivers.

The USBUIRT absolutely works with the VIP 211s. Worse case scenario I can send you my ini files for it.

Do you the the USB-UIRT w/additional 56KHz IR Sensor or the USB-UIRT?

I didn't need the extra receiver. The transmitter can transmit in the 56kHz range, and I had existing files from long ago that work with all Dish receivers.

Eric,

I got my USB-UIRT. I was wondering if you could send me your files.

Thanks,
Chris

Another thing you probably need to do is set the TV1 remote to address 1. Whenever you trade IR files you need to figure out which IR address is used as well.

To change the address:

With TV1 remote press the menu button x2, you should see the system info screen.

Press and hold the SAT button in the top left until all the mode lights on the remote light up. Then press 1 #. The SAT button should blink x3.

Now press the record button x4.

You should now see on the screen primary remote address = 1.

For you to use TV2 you will need a TV2IR kit from dishstore.net, same basic process applies but use the TV2 remote at the TV1 location.

Ok, I have tried and tried, but I can't control sagetv with the remote. I got my USB-UIRT installed. I trained the remote. When I go to watch live tv, I can't change the channels. When I change the channels using the mouse on the computer, the picture becomes distorted and doesn't change the channel. Any ideas or suggestions? TV1 is set to address 1.

If you use my ir files, put them in the correct directory (not at home so can't direct you to it, but it's fairly logical one under the SageTV/Common/), name each one logically DishNetworkReceiver1.ir fr example, then run the setup and select these receivers to be controlled by the USBUIRT you won't have to train the unit using the original Dish remote.

Just to be sure: You have a USBUIRT that's Dish compatible (56KHz compatible)?

I tried that and it still won't work. I must be doing something wrong. Here are the steps I have taken: http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=49800
