USB-UIRT Setup not changing channels

So I have installed the USB-UIRT fine (Windows 7, 64bit).

I start to configure SageTV. I select USB-UIRT Receiver + Any Remote. Keep the current command. Then I get to the Add Source wizard. I add my Hauppauge WinTV 418 Video Capture with S-Video. I select use external cable or satellite receiver to tune channel. Select the USB-UIRT Transceiver. Learn the codes fine. Get the guide. Test video play back which is fine. Go to Watch Live TV. I see it displaying fine with the audio, but I can't change the channels from within SageTV or using the remote. If I point to my Dish Receiver, it of course changes the channel.

Anyone see what I am doing wrong?

Ok, I'm back to trying SageTV again. I have configured everything, but now what do I do with the USB-UIRT? Do I set that in front of my Dish Receiver? I'm a little confused. Trying SageTV 7 now, which I really like the interface now.

With Vista or Windows 7, I am not sure that you can use a USB UIRT as both receiver (i.e., for remote) and blaster (i.e., for channel changing). There was a lot of discussion on the subject; and, I followed it for a long time but don't know if it ever got resolved. I believe it has something to do with security restrictions related to two programs having access to the same device. A search should turn up more info on the subject.

Using the USB-UIRT as a receiver and blaster in Windows 7 requires a beta driver if you are running Sage as a service. The problem is the service and the UI run in two different security contexts which don't play nice sharing the hardware interface for the device. Jon emailed me the beta driver and I made it available to the Sage community (at his request) here. I have been running it ever since that post and haven't had any problems with it.

If OP is running Sage as a service and has the USB-UIRT configured as a receiver and a blaster, odds are this driver will solve the problem.

Have you tried using the LrnHelper program to get the USB-UIRT working independently of SageTV? It is possible to use LrnHelper to manually create each number and function codes that make up a IR file too.

Ok, it works with the lmhelper, but not with sagetv...Any ideas?

Although mine is a 322, the top of mine has an extra line which yours doesn't.

I wonder if yours would need the repeat count line?

The repeat count is how many times the Blaster will send the code. It simulates you holding the button down on your remote for a few extra fractions of a second. If you were to hold a button down on your remote, it would send the code over and over again.

If you experiment with pressing the buttons on your remote, you will notice that there is an optimal amount of time to hold down each button (if you press and release too quickly, or if you hold the button too long, you don't get the right results).

Personally, I have found that a repeat count of "10" is too large for my cable boxes - it works best set to "3" for me.
