This is not like it doesn't have coverart because this blank space/area isn't even selectable. Even restarting Sage doesn't fix this. The only way to get the new movie(s) to be fully seen (cover art where I can click on it) is to rebuild the database. After I rebuild the database, the movie is seen.

Not sure if this could have something to do with me not runnign in service mode or not but this is repeatable after not just a Sage restart but rebooting the computer too.

Thanks!
I believe that new movies are meant to be added by doing the library scan (which runs every 2 hours automatically).

How much time are you giving it? Adding movies to the library are not instantaneous. Sage has to detect it in the library, MyMovies detects it and adds it to the database and then metadata is retrieved. Then sage and mymovies have to talk and everything is updated. This takes a little bit of time. If you come back later, it will all be fixed. Sage library scans are on a scheduled interval and theDatabase is also updated on a set or triggered interval.

The same thing happens in the default movies view. If you add a movie and try to go to it right away. Sometimes it won't be there and you have to do a library scan to pick it up.

This is why a database rebuild works because you are forcing the rebuild to happen right then and there as opposed to when it is scheduled to do it next.

This was mentioned in an earlier post but I'll be sure to add this to the wiki.

Hmm... doesn't a library scan happen when Sage first starts too? I know before I tried to force a scan and I got the same icon in Sage that I get when a scan of import media locations is happening... this happens when Sage starts too and this didn't bring the new movies into Sage My Movies. I'll add another one though and specifically try the library scan. Thanks!

Thanks for the info Peter. It wasn't even picking it up after a reboot BUT, I may not have waited long enough. One of my media import directories has about 20,000 songs in it and the scan takes a few minutes.

I'm going to add a movie now and then go have a beer. Will let you know if I just wasn't waiting long enough for the scan to finish. Thanks!

Clarify Importing

I see allot of questions about new movies and when they show up.

Mymovies import is fired after the default sage library import is completed. DO NOT REBUILD THE DATABASE FOR NEW MOVIES TO SHOW UP. This will cause no linkage as the sage objects won't be available yet for mymovies.

To force a rescan do a default library scan from either the default menu's or SMM library scan option. This will only close after the default scan completes.

This does not mean that the mymovies library import feature is done. This import is fired off a sage listener and takes some time to complete. It all depends on where the library scan is coming from (client, server, extender) on how long it takes to run. I have seen it go in 15 seconds I have seen logs taking 20 minutes on very very large collections on a client.

Currently there is no way without looking at logs to know when the scan is complete.

In the next build I will have a onscreen indicator of when it is complete. (a small icon showing it is in process and not in process). This way you can reference from the interface directly.

Hopefully this clears up any confusion

I basically follow the sage default import as they must be imported into sage before I can link up to them. So the default is every 2 hours unless a manual scan is forced.

cheers

SMM and Fanart

Does SMM only get Fanart from MyMovies? I have Phoenix and BMT installed, but I cannot get any fanart to show up in SMM. I read through the wiki and all the help files. Since I dont have any points at SMM I cannot get posters or backgrounds from there. I was thinking that Fanart gotten from Phoenix would work. Of cours I could be doing something totaly wrong also - wouldn't be the first time.

It Shoulde get covers and posters as those don't require points.

How long has it been running? It takes a bit to download all the posters.

Check you mymoviesshares\posters to see if you are getting any yet. Also forcing a library scan will trigger them to start after import is done.

Also to add to this before it adds any new movies it checks online for any new or missing fanart or posters. Then it does any scaling that needs to be done. It then adds movies.

Woo that is allot to type but even more to code.

So the scaling and such are the reason I don't make it instant as it wouldn't be very instant

Is there an easy way to figure out which each file corresponds to which title in CM? The reason I ask is that I have a collection of ~1600 movies, and a lot of the information in CM is incorrect. When I select that title in CM, how do I know what the movie is supposed to be with no way to see what file it's corresponding to on the file system? There must be an easier way to do this.

Thanks,

Tony

Click the disk button to see what it corresponds too.

Secondly it can't be pulling from the desktop location for an extender...I think you might be looking at the wrong properties file.
Thx for the quick reply Plucky! You are right on point #1...I misspoke, I do indeed have to wait for all images to load before scrolling is possible with poster fade off. But once the waiting is over, the navigation (say on the coverflow view) is quite slow. I can scroll thru maybe 1 title per second. Making it slow to get to the end (only 176 titles right now).

On point #2, which properties file would I reference to see where the extender looks to for cached images? I assumed 'C:\ProgramData\My Movies\FileStorage\SageTV\Properties'? The properties filename is 'Extender-xxxxxxx-MyMovies' (x's are for sample sake). And here are the lines I see in that file:
ClientCacheLocation=cache\\SageMyMovies\\Desktop\\
ClientCacheOn=true

Also, when in coverflow view, and I go to options/information, it says:
Fanart Location:\\Servername\MyMoviesFileStorage$\
Local Cache on to location:cache\SageMyMovies\Desktop\

Does this then indicate my extender is looking at 'C:\Program Files (x86)\SageTV\SageTV\cache\SageMyMovies\Desktop' to get it's cache? Many of the jpg's in the Covers subdirectory there are rather large.

Maybe I'm missing a key concept here. Any suggestions are much appreciated.

1. What is your timeout setting? MyMovies caches ahead when you are idle for 2x's your default sage timeout setting. Scrolling should be very smooth and fast it is on all my extenders. What is your java heap size?

2. You might have found a bug it should be pointing to sagetv\cache\sagemymovies\extender do you have that folder?

Could you do me a favor and send me an email to sagemymovies@gmail.com with your scaling.properties and the extender properties file you are talking about and we can get this fix in the next build going out hopefully tomorrow. I never really tested extenders with remote fanart as I assumed most would have mymovies server on the sagetv server but this definitely needs to be resolved as that is not always going to be the case. As you have shown

Where do I check my timeout setting?
My Java Heap Size (Used/total/Max): 118MB/184MB/1065MB

Under 'sagetv\cache\sagemymovies' I have no Extender directory, only a Desktop directory.

I will send you the email you request. However now I am a bit confused...what leads you to believe my mymovies server (collection mgmt app) is NOT on my sagetv server? Both reside on the same Win7 PC.
email is coming....thx!

Timeout settings are somewhere in the default sage settings I am thinking customizations but can't remember of the top of my head.

Because it is caching your fanart if it is all local then you are probably suffering from a mymovies cm error I found. Look for your email and I will have you try a few things.
