Cannot Get the SageMCtuner to Install Correctly. Please Help.
I was following Mythikal's process for installing SageMCtuner. I have had a lot of issues getting sage to recognize my ceton card. All of my problems start at step 5. I looked in the zip folder I didn't see the sage.properties files.
Is this over site on my part or is it not there?

mmc/encoders/12345/encoding_host=mycomputer\:6969
a)I would like to know if 12345 can be used? (ex.12345,54321,32105,14523)
b)Where can I find the actual listening port for my setup?

They are scheduled to be here anytime between now and 6pm, so hopefully it will go ok. I'm guessing I use the Ceton Infinitv diagnostic tool, in teh cable card tab to get the info they will need to activate? I just want everything to be ready when they get here, so hopefully it'll be a quick in and out, lol.

I did everything I could (following the detailed instructions on the Ceton website) before they arrived including the digital cable analysis in WMC. I had the PC powered off so the tech inserted the cablecard, I powered up the PC and then went to the diagnostic tool. There are several items there the tech and to read over the phone to get the card activated. Once he did that it was another 5 to 10 minutes before the activation was complete. I was using WMC to verify that I could tune a signal and the video was very choppy (unwatchable). But after I installed SageDCT and set up things in Sage, the video is flawless (as good as cable gets) watching on an extender. I still use my HD PVR for the premium channels (HBO, etc.).
I hope your install goes well.

The techs got the card activated (they didn't need anything from the PC, just installed the card, and added the card's serial to my account), and on the Cablecard setup steps, #6 still shows a red - on it (it's been probably 5 hrs since they left). I can tune most of the channels I'm supposed to get, but several channels have VERY low signals, or I get a 'NO SIGNAL' from sage, even though data is being saved, and the channel is listed as a Copy Free. Even VLC can't play those files, and they have repeating text in them ( Á 7 eng  G  SOP: SERVICE 1317 SOP: SERVICE 1317 ®F ). Not sure if it's the cable card, the ceton card or SageDCT that's doing it though. Guess I'll have to start checking logs to see if I can figure it out.

I'm just wondering if part of my problem is the #6 still needing to be done... The message is:

CableCARD has not received Validation Signal.
Please ask your cable company to send a "CCV" signal to your CableCARD.

Just for reference, Charter requires tuning adapters, and the CCV not received you can ignore. They don't marry their cards to the device they are in, just activate them on the stream. You can swap cards between devices without having to call in.

The tuning adapters that Charter uses are Motorola MTR-700's, which are CAPABLE of 4 tuner functionality, but the firmware that comes on them (v1.27) only does dual-tuner, and they need a firmware upgrade to either 1.34 or 1.37 to work in quad mode.

Everything that I get with the Expanded basic, and Digitalview/Digitalview Plus comes in Copy Freely, not sure about the movies channels, as I don't get any of those..

Movie channels on Charter are not copy freely, unless they removed the copy once flag that was in place a few years ago (when I used firewire tuning/capture).

And about the 'marrying of cable cards' while they can be swapped around, you will run into issues on Charter with certain channels. I had to swap out my Tivo Premiere a while back, and I just put the card in the new one and thought all was well. However there were a handful of channels that would not tune as a result of not updating the numbers with Charter. Again, these were premium channels if memory serves..

Both the techs who have all been here, and the online tech support said I could move the card between devices freely, without having to call in to have anything changed. The only channels I'm missing that I am entitled to are the ones that needed the tuning adapter to work (SDV channels), and as soon as they can get the firmware pushed out to my box to fix the dual/quad channel issue, I should be able to get those on all 4 tuners (works on 2 of them now, every channel I'm supposed to get works fine now).

Andy,
Had a chance to mess around with the "writing" part of SageDCT, or should I say the person that was going to help deal with that part?

Haven't heard anything from that person. Going to move to Cox country in a few weeks so I probably won't be working on it when I find time either.

Great! Can you provide more info on what you mean by the AVIVO must be installed statement? Not sure what that means.

Looks like it's called "AMD Media Codec Pack" now.

1) Download it
2) Run it to extract the contents. Pay attention to where they go (C:\ATI\Support\11-10_vista_win7_32-64_xcode\Packages\Apps)
3) Cancel the installer if you're not using an AMD GPU
4) Navigate to the location noted in #2 and select the correct version of AVIVO for your platform, open the directory, and run the installer
5) Don't panic when you see this error message:

6) Open an elevated cmd prompt and navigate to "C:\Program Files\Common Files\ATI Technologies\Multimedia"

7) regsvr32 the appropriate atimpenc dll for your platform
8) If the regsvr32 files, you probably don't have the necessary Visual Studio runtime installed. It looks like these are also in the folder from #2, but I'd go grab the latest VS2010 rev from MS.

Also the installer (64bit) is no longer creating a entry under start menu

This is fixed.

I added more logging so I'll have a better idea of what is going on. Verbose logging must be enabled though. Also, please make sure that you have the latest drivers/firmware revision for the card.

1) MPG program stream output
2) The same recording setup that 7MC uses (except the file sink of course )

The main benefit is for people who want to use the files outside of SageTV.

The main benefit is for people who want to use the files outside of SageTV.
First off, I think you should make the donation button a bit more conspicuous on your page. Took me a few minutes to find it, and I've used it before.

I was really hoping we would eventually get more standardized files out of SageDCT. Thanks for working on this again.

The file is being created (0 byte). The channel works using version 1.9. Version 2.1 is not working for me on any channel.

This latest log is pretty large, where can I send it?
