Can't play back BD from disc

I am able to play BD rips (minus DTS-MA issue) but when I try to play the movie from the BD drive (real drive/real disc) I get an error stating the video couldn't be rendered or whatever. I would think my settings are correct if I could play the rip. I saw there is an issue with VC-1 streams but I don't think the movie was VC-1. Any ideas?

How were you playing it back? If it was on a PC, were you running AnyDVD HD to remove protection?

You should specific a bit more, what kind of disc this is. You said it's not VC-1, hence it's likely H.264/MPEG-4 AVC. Can you confirm? What h.264 decoder are you using. And what't the audio part (DTS or DD)?

DOH! I bet it is anydvd not loaded. This machine is a pure test machine to test the feasability of switching from BeyondTV. I think PowerDVD tricked me into thinking anydvd was loaded because this particular version isn't whining about me using the pc input and playing rips from a drive like another version I have.

I think it was an AVC disc. I tried a few and they all failed.

I'll try anydvd. Does dvdfab work?
