When you receive a new STP-HD300, one of the first things you should do is update its firmware to the latest version. Upon first starting the HD300, it should notify you that there is a new firmware version available after the Main Menu is displayed in Media Player/Standalone mode. You can update the firmware from that notification dialog or go to Settings -> System Update, then check for a new firmware version.


The latest release firmware as of this post is version "20100909 0".


Updating the firmware is also covered in the printed manual that comes with the HD300, or which can be downloaded:

See pages 10 and 11 for information about how to update the firmware via an internet download or as part of the Configuration Reset Procedure, which allows updating the firmware "From SageTV Server", "From Internet", or "From USB".

1. Added SageTV7 STV for testing; the default is still Cheetah. The SageTV7 STV can be selected in Setup-> Advanced Setup -> Advanced -> SageTV Application Package.
   
   To enable the option to load another STV:
   
   From the HD300's Main Menu, go to Settings -> System Information (or just use the Info command while on the Main Menu). Using the remote, enter the 4-digit '5309' code. If entered successfully, you will see a blue dot in the top left corner.

2. Updated to use the Title field as the title for imported videos & photos instead of the episode field. If the episode field is different than the title, then show it as part of the info for an imported video.
