Settings Lost on Power Outage
This is probably not a v7- specific question, but it is the version I am running. We have had power outages in the past and survived with v6.x, but yesterday SageTV 7.0.16 almost completely lost its settings after an outage. I have what looks like a really old set of favorites and a single tuner active (we've had 2 tuners for a long time now). Is there a way I can recover my settings? The QAM channel mapping are the biggest pain to remap. I tried substituting an older .properties file for the current one, but then Sage failed to load. Is v7 doing anything different regarding saving its settings? Thanks for any help!

I can't say with certainty that this is your problem, but I can tell you that Sage doesn't always write updates to its settings to the .properties files immediately. When you exit Sage, it writes everything. Therefore, if Sage crashes for some reason, some of the settings that you changed during the current session could be lost.
Also, if your computer lost power unexpectedly, it's possible that your .properties or wiz.bin file could have gotten corrupted, in which case I think Sage will try to use the previous backup file (.bak). My advice is that once you have Sage configured properly, exit Sage completely, re-boot, and make sure everything is still working correctly. Then make a backup of your whole Sage folder (or at a minimum, backup your *.properties files and wiz.bin files). If you value your "watched" history, favorites lists, and other settings, it's a good idea to make regular backups of these files. Backup to a separate disk in case you have a hard drive crash. At a minimum, I would make a backup right before making any major changes to your system (like adding a new tuner, adding a new hard drive, upgrading to a new version of Sage).
