HD300: Motion Problems [RESOLVED w/ beta firmware]

Just got my HD300 today.
I am having severe problems with motion on several of my Bluray's that have been backed up to MKV files. Nothing, loses sync - but the motion of people, etc is very jerky..

I wonder if it is related to the 24 FPS that most of these are shot in? My TV does not have 24FPS, so I don't have that output mode selected. However, I did not have this problem with the HD200.

Anyone seen anything similar?

Little update - it doesn't seem to affect all of my Bluray MKV backups, just some of them.. Although, I don't see a common denominator among the affected.

I'm having similar problems with avi's that were from HD broadcast television. The video and voice are in sync but it seems to be dropping frames.

I am not even sure if I can describe it as frames being dropped.. it is almost like it is being played back at the wrong frame rate? Almost like it is playing it back at 24 FPS even though my TV doesn't support that and I don't have it selected as an option..

For me, I was watching Rubicon and there was a scene with someone's hand rapping on a wooden table and it looked like it was in slow motion. I could see multiple frames of the hand.

I agree it looks like 24p. I only have a 720p display and it doesn't give an option to playback in 24p.

I've submitted a bug report. Hopefully I'll hear something soon.

Work around your native output switching.
I am pretty sure the hd300 has problems with 1080P60
For some reason I can not run 1080p60 on my 1080p tv
Not a big deal since I only need 1080p for 1080p24 and the 1080p24 is excellent.

Impro,
Thanks - although I am not sure what you are suggesting.. I have the same problem with native output switching on/off. I also have the same problem if I disable native output switching and set the resolution to 720p.

I take that back..

I dropped it down to 720p, then back up to 1080i and now the videos that were not smooth are now smooth.

There does seem to be a problem with 1080p playback of certain content.

Here's the response from support,

Thanks, we're able to reproduce this problem and are looking into a
solution. For now, there is a workaround though. If you use an output
resolution of 1080p24 or 1080i then the files will playback OK (obviously
not a fix, but it should allow you to watch them in the meantime)

Latest HD300 Firmware 9/22/2010 fixes the issue I was seeing with motion on 24FPS MKVs.
