Question Losing 3 seconds of recordings every 1 to 2 minutes

I have SageTV working through my Firewire port and writing into a HD formatted specifically for SageTv as per recommendation on the website. But I am losing a few seconds every 1 to 2 minutes. I seems to be the time it take from closing the current recording segment and starting a new recording segment. How can I avoid this? Or that is the way SageTV works and there is no way to fix it. I used before the CAPDVHS.exe and it works great and after merging all recording segments together it looks like it was recorded continuously. Any help or your experience concerning this matter will be really appreciated.

What are you recording from (i.e. what is the source)?

I am recording from Motorola DCH-3200 box either HD or SD format. It does the same thing on both formats.

I have the same box.... I have found fire-wire capture to be very unreliable not worth the headaches due to corrupted captures.. I stopped capturing through fire-wire and just use it to change channels.

With the Hauppauge USB tuner, does you get interruptions or the 3 or 4 second recording lost? Does it creates a lot of small recording files or is a large file.
