Need help with a collection manager issue
I realize this isn't a specific SMM problem but sometimes getting answers in the official forum is... tough. I have TV shows that are ISO rips in multiple disks (say like Season 1 of MASH) and TV show disks that are ripped individual episodes (like Scooby Doo). I'm using Sage v7_16 with the latest MM beta on a 300.
For the ISOs, I can set up the first disk as the correct one but not the other two. Do I need to do something to add them all to the title entry so they are seen correctly? I tried making them part of a box set, but I could never get to a menu to actually select an episode. It just keeps playing one of the episodes over and over. For the individual rips if there are too many episodes it tosses me errors about too many video files in the folder. And I can't figure out how to group them so I can select individual episodes. Am I missing something obvious? Are these just limitations of MM, and I shouldn't use SMM for TV rips at all? Thanks, Paul Last edited by madpoet; 09-28-2010 at 01:11 PM. |

MyMovies isn't meant for individual episodes currently. It is a limitation of it. It does work with full disc rips you just add the disc to the main title but there is no way of episode selection only disc selection.

Ok... I can live with that for now. On the multi-disc rips, do I add them as box set members of the first disk?

Plucky,
I did this for a series of discs I have (twelve discs in total and each is in its own folder) but when hit enter in mymovies it plays only the first disc. Do I need to hit a special button to open the dialog to select the disc? |

Did you save the title after addin the disk? If so rebuild your datafile and exit and reenter smm should be good to go from there.

Plucky,
That didn't work for me. When I click the disc icon all 12 of my discs show up and the path for each folder is correct so I know I saved the title. I performed the rebuild from the database tab under the sagemymovies options. Any other ideas? Is there a wiki or something - I searched but did not find anything. When in sagemymovies I am hitting select or enter when the movie cover is highlighted - do I need to hit a different button to get the other discs to play? I thought I saw a screenshot from you at one point that shows the dialog box that opens up when you have selected a multidisc movie - but I can no longer find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Dan P.S. should I start a new thread? |

Did you exist SMM and reenter after rebuilding database?
If so it should automatically show the disc....What is it doing if not. |

I did exit and reenter sage mymovies. I also exited sage and restarted and no difference. What I see when clicking the movie cover art is no different than selecting a since disc movie it plays the movie or if the movie was already started previously the dialog box with resume playback, restart from beginning etc comes up. Do you need to hit a special key on the remote to bring up the dialog for multiple discs? Did I set it up wrong from the beginning? Here is what I did - in my movies collection manager I did an initial import of the root folder. This folder contained a subfolder called Exercise inside exercise are 12 folders each one corresponding to a disc. My movies recognized the video as P90X and shows the cover art. I clicked the disc icon and it already had all 12 videos named 00 P90X intro (I added the path to the cardio disc as this is the one we use most often and this is the only disc that plays when I hit enter/select from sagemymovies) I then added the location (UNC path to the other 11 discs) and saved the entry in my movies collection manager.
Any ideas? Does the name of the disc make a difference i.e. does it need to be in a specific format for sage mymovies to work? Thanks, Dan |

No but every disc can't be pointed to the same folder. If they are not try this
Stop the sagetv service Delete the mymovies datafile from mymoviesshare\sagetv\database Delete any mymovies logs from sagetv\sagetv\logs Restart the service if it still doesn't work send me the new mymovies log. |

Plucky - I tried everything you mentioned and I still can't get it to work. Each disk is in its own folder. I sent the logs to your sagemymovies email.
Thanks! Dan |

Dan,
The important thing is how they are cataloged in Mymovies (the client, not the sage plugin). Open up Mymovies collection manager. Browse to the title and click on the "disks" item and make sure it is being cataloged the way you expect it to be.

jptheripper,
I did discover my problem...I knew it had to be something simple and that it had nothing to do with Plucky's plugin. In the my movies collection manager under the disc button the location for the first disc was set to online (folder) and all of the other discs were set to offline (DVD). Once I changed all discs to online(folder) I was all set. Thanks everyone for your suggestions. |

same thing happened to me. THis is also very useful if you want one folder with like 10 files in it. If you add the folder as a title, and then go to disks and set each on as an "online file", it works perfectly with selection in SMM
