Did you install it through the SageTV 7 Plugin Manager? That screen looks like something I was prototyping a while back. What version is printed at the bottom of the page?

I wonder if your browser cache needs cleared and/or the jetty/webapps/SageWebApp folder needs to be deleted while Sage is shut down.

The version shown on the web apps home page says 2.0.0.40 and the version shown at the bottom of the mobile web interface shows 2.0.0.

Yes, I installed thru Sagetv 7 Plugin Manager just today. I will clear browser cashe and will delete the folders as you described above. Is there anything I need to be aware of or careful of when deleting those folders?

Just don't delete your whole C: drive jk. No, the SageWebApp folder will be recreated when Sage starts (don't delete the jetty or webapps parent folders).

I did what you suggested and viola, it is working. Thank you for your support and thank you for this feature. It is sweet and working well on my wifi and on iphone. I probably missed it somewhere, but should the video landscape when the phone is turned?

Thank you VERY much.

Yes it should. My iPhone 3G with iOS 3 is a little slow so it doesn't always turn right away or I might have to turn it to portrait and back.

Streaming error

Hi, I am getting a 'this movie could not played' error message when I click the play button. I can see a thumbnail of the channel that is being recorded but I get that message when I press the play button, what am I doing wrong?

Yes, you can interact with it using a URL as long as the media player supports HTTP Live Streaming and HTTP Basic Authentication (much like what you were requesting from InMethod ). I haven't posted details anywhere but PM me if you want more info and I'll help you out. I'm assuming this is for tiSageTV?

MWI quality not up to AirVideo on same system

Hi,
Thanks for this.

I have Airvideo on my ipad 3G. Must admit their last update has given me clean, full run through shows both on wifi and 3G. (via same computer SageTV is on)

On both WiFi and 3G, Air video has a way far better picture than MWI getting feed from my saved recordings.

Ipad plays Netflix better as well.

FCC Ipad app for speed test has 11+ Mbps download and 0.93Mbps upload speeds with wifi on...
1.58Mbps down and 0.24Mbps up on 3G.

Router is DLink DGL-4100

Also MWI is getting picture freeze while sound keeps playing. Using Safari on Ipad.

As far as I know all systems are running latest/updated everything.

I can flick between both and really see quality difference.

We only watch recoredTV on HD300. No DVD video files etc. No Comskip.

My SageTv is on the following computer. Main HD is SSD ( see sig.)

I'm getting the same thing, can't figure out why.

If you are having an issue, please see the first post in this thread. I updated it with instructions for reporting problems with iOS streaming.

I am able to stream SD content without problems but streaming HD content, either MPEG or H.264 doesn't work so well as I get, at best 10 secs of content before the video freezes. That is likely due to my CPU which is a single core 2.8 GHz. I guess this functionality is a good reason to put a fast CPU in your server. Any idea what the minimum CPU would be for streaming 1080i H.264 files?

One thing that looks kind of strange - when I use the Sage mobile server from my Blackberry I get the old blue background. Does this mean that the server checks for the browser/OS and serves up different pages to a non-iOS devices?

I'm not sure what the minimum is, but these days if you're upgrading anyway a Quad-Core is a no-brainer. Transcoding & Commercial Detecting is CPU intensive & the main reason I chose as much CPU & cores as I could afford. Keep energy cost in mind when you upgrade though.

This PC was a "temporary" Sage server as I was having a myriad of problems with my WHS/Sage server. I had this PC sitting around so I thought I would give it a go as my test server for V7 back in the summer. As tends to happen, I ended up not switching off of this test platform as life got in the way. But I should have time over the holidays to set up a new server.

My end state will be a new PC running either Win7 or XP pro as my Sage server and I will rebuild my WHS server which will also run Sage as a backup but it likely won't have any active tuners. I will likely duplicate pretty much all content, except TV, on both machines so that I have redundancies for pretty much everything and I can keep the family happy by switching servers if anything is wrong with the primary and all I would lose is the ability to record new TV shows.

I was thinging of using an i5 650 for my Sage server - will that be enough CPU?

That's what I was thinking as well, with option of using the video out from the server for Netflix and NHL Gamecenter. Would be good to hear some reports of what people have been able to get HD-PVR files to stream with.

I did some benchmarking on an HDHomeRun HD recording, an HDHomeRun SD recording, and an HD-PVR recording Brent sent me.

Basically the results were:

My AMD 64 single core (about 5 years old) in my SageTV server could only keep up with the SD recording. On the HDHR HD recording the best it could do was convert a 180-second clip in about 225 seconds and that was with a low quality ffmpeg preset ('ultrafast'). My iPhone will play for about 30-40 seconds then pause for around 20. I didn't even bother trying the HD-PVR recording. So basically I need a new server, too, if that makes anyone feel better

I have another server that's a Core i3 540 dual core with hyper-threading (no Sage installed). It performed much better and without turning my room into an oven. It converted the 180-second clip of the HDHR HD recording in around 90 seconds. It converted the HD-PVR clip in around 135 seconds.

I'm really impressed by the Core i3 processor. I may end up going with a Core i5 or i7 for my Sage server but I haven't decided yet.

That's a pretty limited set of hardware but should give you a few numbers to go off of.

using a core 2 duo 2.93 in my server and have a core 2 quad q6600 in another computer...even though it is an older (non- i series quad core) would that likely be good enough?

I don't think so. A Quad Core 2.66GHz Q9450 can't do HD-PVR recordings.

If you have AirVideo, try out your recordings there and that should give you a pretty good idea of what it can handle.
