Arrow STV: MlbDude SageTV 2 Skin - Updated June 5, Version 1.4.1

Hello all,

Since SageTV 2 is released I guess it is time to publish my first modified SageTV skin. If you have any questions about the skin please post them here. I also welcome suggestions and feature requests as long as you keep in mind that I have limited time and final say (or my wife does at least) as to what goes in.

Thanks and enjoy!

MlbDude SageTV Skin

1.0 First Release May 12 2004

1.1 May 12 2004
Added List View for Video Library

1.2 May 13 2004
Up or Down will now bring up Mini-Guide in Enhanced OSD
Back command in Enhanced OSD will first close any OSD items if they are open. If not it will go to the previous menu as usual.
Bug Fix: When playback of a Video Library file was finished it was always going back to Folder View regardless of user setting.
Removed List View\Folder View button from Video Library.
Added Options button to Video Library.
Added Folder View\List View toggle
Added Hide File Extensions toggle
Added Property video_lib_hide_delete. Will hide the Delete Now button in Recording Details IF it is a Library File.
EXPERIMENTAL: Added Advanced Setup\Multimedia\SageTV (.STV File) setting from Narflex that will let the user change STV's on the fly. Will only show up on Server though and not a Client.
Modified List View so that Right command works like Select.

1.3 May 28 2004
Added upcoming recording and currently recording mini-browsers to Main Menu.
Modified Category Browser and Station Browser to a more unified look and feel.
Many fixes in the Enhanced OSD (mainly missing key mappings).
Added Custom1 command to Enhanced OSD. Trigering this will bring up the full LiveTV Guide.
Added TimeSlot property to Detailed Favorite menu. This will limit a favorite to a specific time.
Modified Video Library to support ripped DVD's that use the XXXXX_TS folder structure. Place the folder.jpg in the folder containing the two _TS folders.

1.3.1 May 29 2004
Fixed problem in Enhanced OSD where progress bar would come on and not go away.
All DVD-ROM playback now goes to the old Frey OSD - I don't want that responsibility .

1.4 Beta 1 May 29 2004
Added new Sage Recordings view. Enable it via Detailed Setup\Advanced\Use Enhanced Sage Recordings.

1.4 Beta 2 May 30 2004
Undid change to send all DVD-ROM playback to olds OSD. Was too unpredictable.
Added quick select pop-up to new Sage Recordings menu. Just issue a Select when the group section is selected.
Added properties to allow use to set font size and row counts to video library.
ui/video_library_list_num_rows=6
video_lib_folder_font_size=18
video_lib_list_font_size=24
Added properties to allow user to modify Main Menu to their liking. Also added a new item to Main menu but it is disabled by default: Watch LiveTV. NOTE: These properties may not show up until you launch Sage for the first time with the updated STV.
ui/main_menu_livetv_enabled=true
ui/main_menu_livetv_text=LiveTV Guide
ui/main_menu_mlib_enabled=true
ui/main_menu_mlib_text=Media Library & DVD
ui/main_menu_schedrec_enabled=true
ui/main_menu_schedrec_text=Schedule Recordings
ui/main_menu_setup_enabled=true
ui/main_menu_setup_text=Setup
ui/main_menu_sleep_enabled=true
ui/main_menu_sleep_text=Sleep Mode
ui/main_menu_sr_enabled=true
ui/main_menu_sr_text=SageTV Recordings
ui/main_menu_tv_enabled=false
ui/main_menu_tv_text=Watch TV
Fixed issue with left arrow and mouse in new Sage Recordings menu.

1.4 Beta 3 May 31 2004
Added back in two-pane horizontal SageRecordings menu. Should not have any of the old issues though when you return to the menu focus is forced to the left pane. Menu also has advanced grouping and sorting capabilities for both the left and right pane so check it out.
Moved SageRecordings choice to Detaild Setup\Advanced\Multimedia\Sage Recordings Menu.

1.4 June 1 2004
Fixed Mini-Guide in regards to missing guide data.
Changed Sage Recordings Two-Pane Horizontal view to have 5 rows.
All new Sage Recordings menus now show the group name and count when a group is selected.
Fixed Sage Recordings Two-Pane views to include currently recording show(s).
Added code to attempt to restore focus to appropriate group when coming back to the Two-Pane Horizontal view.

1.4.1 June 5 2004
Fixed issue with DVD menu navigation if you use the combo Up\Chan Up type commands.
Added new sort to all Sage Recording menus - Origional Air Date Newest First, and Origional Air Date Oldest First.

Great, really makes the Video library much easier to use.

Is there a way to switch from icon view to just a text list in the video library ?

Either way, nice work, thanks!

I can't wait to try this out. For DVD's it is exactly what I'm wanting. Cover art to select from and a hook into Theatertek.

First question that comes to mind is: Can command line parms be passed to Theatertek from this? If they can, it would be cool if the parms could be picked up from the directory where the DVD is stored. This way filmed based material could use ffdshow and video based material could skip the post processing.

Second question: Could a similar setup be done for music? Maybe we could get WMA's to show this way and then play with the window's media player.

I'm just kind of thinking outloud, since these are the two areas that make studio most interesting for me.

Thanks for what you've done mlbdude. This is awsome.

Checkout the attachment for what may become the Video Library list view.

Rob,

First question: Possibly.

Second: I have been thinking about this myself. More so for just a way to let me organize my mp3's using folders. I may just add a property so you could launch them in an external app like the DVD change.

Request

Can you add an option that will hide/not show the file extension on videos? ie. not show .avi .mpg .divx, etc???? for the video module.

For filtering or total exclusion? To totally exclude them you can do that with your properties file. I think you want filtering though.

I think what he means is hide the extension itself. For example if the file name was "Terminator 2.avi" then only "Terminator 2" would show up.

I would also like this feature.

BTW, regarding the MlbDude Skin, just gotta say "WOW!!"

Thanks...

Well to do that now, put the file in its own directory all by itself. Sage will then display it using the directories name.

For example: M:\Movies\Comedy\American Wedding\American Wedding.avi

If American Wedding.avi is the only video file in that directory it will use the folder name. In order to take advantage of the folder.jpg you need them in their own dir anyway.

Hiding Extensions

Yes. I mean that when it is in the List View.. hide the extension.. So what I would see would be..

Star Wars IV - A New Hope
Star Wars V - The Empire Strikes Back
Star Wars VI - Return of the Jedi

and not

Star Wars IV - A New Hope.avi
Star Wars V - The Empire Strikes Back.avi
Star Wars VI - Return of the Jedi.avi

I will try the Folder view and see how my wife likes it. But I would like the list view w/o extensions... (Make it a flag in the properties file???)

MlbDude great, list view works perfect for me!

Quick question, I have kids using the system and the "Delete Now" option scares me! They could push it in error etc, maybe others could comment too...

Maybe an alternative would be to have an Admin button that brings up other buttons like delete now, rename, etc, or force the user to confirm the deletion by entering a code.

You'll probably have a better idea, but delete now could be trouble here....

Thanks again!

Happy surfing .

Jack_PVR,

I was wondering if I should just not hide the delete now button and force us to use the file system (Explorer) to do all the admin stuff. I may include an option to hide that in the next build.

Thanks for all the great feedback everyone!

Hiding/removing the "Delete Now" sounds great to me. Any videos I have in my import folders are those I want to keep around.

If fact just playing the video directly without going to the Watch Now screen would work too.

I noticed something when I am playing a video or watching TV and I go to the Video LIbrary and select a video, the final screen shows a window of what currently is playing.

Is it supposed to do that, or preview the new selected video?

You hopefully have .

Attached is an image of my folder Movies\Comedy. Under that are sub-folder with one .avi in each. When I click on any of these I am taken to the Recording Detail menu in Sage.

Give me a screen cap of what you are seeing. That will help.
