Kind of on the subject of file extensions...

Could you place some kind of info(whatever ext you like) file in the dir with the media file that stores extended info about the file? This could also hold an alternate file name to be used if present. To make sure the info file is matched to the correct media file you can have the info file named the same as the true media file.

just an idea.

Maybe you just need to set your options in Windows to hide known file extensions?

File Extensions in List View

I downloaded version 1_1 of the skin and I still see the file extensions in the list view. The only time I don't is when they are nested in a folder then I just see the folder name. If I open the folder I see the files in that folder with their corresponding extensions.

I attached a screenshot (zipped). I have just now uninstalled and reinstalled from scratch (deleting everything in the Frey directories prior to re-installing, and they still show up.)

Also I don't see the Browse Airings by Catagory or Browse Airings by Station anywhere

What did/am I do/ing wrong?

You can turn off the mouse auto-tracking. (ui/focus_follows_mouse=false) I like using auto-tracking, but you are certainly correct that it wreaks havoc on the 3 pane screen -- it takes some careful mouse movement not to highlight the wrong items!

It looks like you have one folder in your system and all the files dumped in there. The menu was designed to work with some kind of folder structure.

I would recommend setting up your files as I have in the attached image. I just added the root drive to Sage. Maybe it has something to do with how you added the files to Sage?

All the Browse menus are under Schedule Recordings\Search for Programs to Record.

There are some "issues" internal to Sage with 2 pane menu's that I don't know how to work around. You can imagine they will be even worse with 3 pane. It is funky with the mouse. It is really designed to be used with a remote.

hey mlbdude can you post a copy of your properties file so I can see better how you listed the pictures for the library and how to map the library folder so I get no file extensions

I have not tried yet just wanted another resource before I give a shot

The explorer_view.jpg image above is the best help. I don't put anything special (just use defaults) in my properties file with this menu so you should be set.

File Extensions in Libary

Ok, I see what you did.

That will work well for more static entries like movies stuff. I have actually gone and now created catagories and done very similiar to what you did.

But, if I can request it...

I still would like to have the ability to have a list view that has multiple files in one folder, listing the files w/o the extensions. To give a better idea. I have all my stored episodes of some TV (Blues Clues, Family Guy, Simpsons, South Park) shows. Some with over a 100 episodes that I would like to list in just one directory instead of having to create a subfolder for each one. I I like the thought of creating one image for the whole subfolder so all of friends or whatever has the same icon.. Can this be done?

Also I would like to add my vote to removing the delete option from the video library (imported) as anything in the library I intended to keep. Once I have Divx'd them and put them in my library area I consider them permanently archived. I would rather handle deleting them through file explorer.

Also Is it possible to put or use the parental code to access a folder? I would like to prevent unwanted access from folders that contain material my daughter is too young for. Something like creating a file with by the name or rating or something that contains mapping to the parential controls and uses the partial control code for access??? I would perfer it at a folder level verses a file level for the my video library.

PS. This thing ROCKS!!!!!

I have never been so close to digital nirvana!!!

OK edbmdave. You win . You actually reminded me of my South Park collection that may be moving to the server.

Look for another release by the end of the weekend with some tweaks - probably including a property to hide the delete button as well.

Thanks all!

I have not had the time to upgrade from Beta 15 so I cant really try it out for myself. I was wondering if the same folder system that you made for the video library hold true for the music library? Will it show album covers from folders with folder.jpg files? That would be a great addition IMO if it is not already added. I dont really feel like embedding all the album covers into my whole mp3 collection... Thanks

I second that! Your mod is absolutely awesome. This would be my #1 request too. I ripped all me CDs a long time ago, but didn't embed albumn art. ... folder.jpg would be great.

The recording icon I saw in another mod would be nice too.

Oh yeah, 1 other thing I think would "complete" my wish list would be the ability to sort the archived recordings files like we can with imported video files... with folders, art, etc.

All these features in 1 mod.... WOW things would be great. Huge WAF for this one!

Keep up the excellent work!

New Version 1.2

May 13 2004
Up or Down will now bring up Mini-Guide in Enhanced OSD

Back command in Enhanced OSD will first close any OSD items if they are open. If not it will go to the previous menu as usual.

Bug Fix: When playback of a Video Library file was finished it was always going back to Folder View regardless of user setting.

Removed List View\Folder View button from Video Library.

Added Options button to Video Library.
Added Folder View\List View toggle
Added Hide File Extensions toggle

Added Property video_lib_hide_delete. Will hide the Delete Now button in Recording Details IF it is a Library File.

EXPERIMENTAL: Added Advanced Setup\Multimedia\SageTV (.STV File) setting from Narflex that will let the user change STV's on the fly. Will only show up on Server though and not a Client.

Modified List View so that Right command works like Select.

You can, it will be auto-created the first time you go to the Recording Details menu otherwise. I guess I should have said to run the STV first then you can close and edit the properties file .
