HD300 video sometimes goes pink

Hello,

I'm running the latest beta firmware on my HD300.

Recently, when I start a show there are times when there appears to be a pink filter applied to the video. In other words, the entire video has a pink tint.

The filter doesn't go away when I switch shows. It only goes away when I play an imported video (vs a recorded show).

Does anyone know why this might happen?

I had this happen to me as well. It was only affecting TV recordings. A power reset cured it for me. So far it hasn't come back.

This is what I am seeing too. A power reset worked for a while but it came back. It seems to happen for me only with 480i programs so far.

I'm getting it with my mpeg2 recordings. It does seem to happen when I watch a 480i recording but then it won't go away. It's like e mpeg2 decoder gets "stuck".

If I switch to something that's recorded in a different format then the video plays normally. However as soon as I go back to my FireWire recordings the issue comes back.

It's pretty annoying.

I saw this happen yesterday for the first time. Has anybody submitted a bug report?

I've had this problem for a long time with an HD-200. It rarely happens. When the colors are screwed up, it happens when the HD-200 is powered up. I might see the problem once a month, maybe every couple of months. Powering cycling the HD-200 with the remote control fixes the problem. Then I don't see the screwed up colors for many weeks.

I've had this happen a couple times with the HD200 also....menus are become a "purpleish" color instead of the blue. Aggrevates the wife, but power off/on via remote fixes it.

The shifted colors on the HD-200 are also purple. I think it occasionally happens on my second HD-200 also. Make sure to tell your wife how to fix it. My wife ended up watching videos for quite at least an hour because she did not know she should power cycle the HD-200 with the remote control.

This just happened to me too for the first time. Yet watching a DVD (ripped, video vs. TV category) works fine.

The recording is a pretty old one (3rd episode of The Event, recorded on Sage v6.6 before I upgraded), so it shouldn't be related to the file.

Very strange. Will try the full power cycle. On the latest beta firmware HD300 as of today.

Power cycle (HARD power off - yanking the DC plug from the back of the HD300) fixed it for me, too.

When the pinkish/purplish cast was there, I could've sworn it was almost on every other vertical line...as if it has something to do with deinterlacing. Hard to tell though.

Just glad I found this thread and that a power cycle fixed it.

I filed a bug for this over the weekend. I can reproduce it at will on the the HD300 - just go in and play some music, and then switch over to TV. BOOM.

btl.

YES! I did play music on Thurs during T-day dinner for the folks, then didn't watch any recorded TV for a few days due to typical parental visit/family time doing other stuff.

Playing a DVD for me and my dad while the girls were all out shopping (ripped main movie only from Videos menu) worked fine, but I did indeed see the pink wash effectively the 'first time' I watched recorded TV after music.

Great catch!! With diagnosis like that I'm sure they can figure it out.

Same here.. I played some music during a commercial break a while ago, and upon resuming tv playback, the picture turned pink. Only on tv playback (HD-PVR), not from other imported media. The only way to resolve it was to power cycle the HD300.
I thought I'd mention it as well just so the dev team understands this issue is affecting lots of HD300 owners, and it's not some isolated occurrance.

Did they happen to mention if they were able to reproduce on the HD300 only? Or could they also reproduce the HD200 purple color shift also?
