HDHomerun - new channels appearing?
Hi folks,
I would guess this has been hashed out in some post somewhere, but after about 20 mins of searching, I can't find it. When I re-installed SageTV+HDhomerun on a win 7 box about 6 months ago, I performed all the usual clear-QAM config in HDhomerun, and then setup these channels in SageTV, nothing out of the ordinary. I had about 10 channels showing in the guide, all my local stuff from Time Warner. Now, 6 months later, I have the original 10 channels appearing, with an extra 15 channels that have just showed up out of no where (over time). These extra channels have no broadcasting on them. I haven't touched the server since I got it up and running, what exactly is happening that these unwanted channels just show up on their own? |

When TMS (the company that provides guide listings for SageTV, Zap2it, and others) adds new channels to your lineup, SageTV will add them. You should be able to go into the channel lineup area in SageTV and disable them.

Thanks, Jason. These channels show up in the HDHomerun channel list, but they are all unchecked. Any idea why Sage would even pick them up if HDhomerun setup isn't even reporting them?
Not a big deal, just kind of annoying, and pretty disappointing for folks that thought they might record something from this ghost channel. |

I am not in front of my server right now, but I think there is an option that can be set if SageTV will add new channels to the line up by default.

If someone knows where this switch is so that it could be shut off, that would be great. Still running Sage 6.6 or somewhere around there.

I believe the option referred to is new in Sage 7 and may not be available to you. In sage 7, it is setup->Detailed Setup->Customize->Automatically Enable Channels Newly Added to EPG Lineups. It can be Enabled or Disabled.

Just to clarify...maybe? I think the OP is saying he has new channels added to the lineup but not enabled. This is what disabling "Automatically Enable Channels Newly Added to EPG Lineups" does. New channels were most likely added to the lineup because new channels were added to the EPG (from the EPG server). AFAIK there is no way to prevent this.
