Version 7 Upgrade
Up until recently, I have been running Sage Version 6 for Linux with (2) HD100 and (1) HD200 media extenders.
I decided to build a new Sage server on Windows 7 and have been running the trial software. I know my Linux license is non transferable, but I bought a 3rd HD100 media extender from a friend who is no longer using Sage and he gave me his Version 6 license for Windows along with the extender. So here is my question. His Version 6 license worked fine when I entered it into Version 7, but I had to enter his name to get it to accept it. Now I want to purchase the Version 7 upgrade. Do I need to have him purchase it, or can I purchase it under my name and get it to work? My friend is willing to send an email to Sage support if needed, but I was hoping I could accomplish this without having to bother him with it. Thanks in advance. --Paul Last edited by pzasso; 12-24-2010 at 02:40 AM. |

The upgrade to Sage 7 for clients and extenders are free. Any existing v6 license for extenders and clients should just work with v7. Keep in mind the Sage software and license are non-transferable and cannot be sold. (Technically speaking from the end user agreement. I'm just saying.....)

Fair enough. I will just purchase a new Version 7 license. I guess my question now is that since I put in my friends Version 6 serial number, what do I need to do to back it out before putting in a new full Version 7 license? Is there a way to back it out or should it just accept the Version 7 serial number without a problem?
Thanks, --Paul |
