External IR HD300 Receiver not working

My second HD300 just arrived. Updated the firmware without a hitch, but when I plugged the external IR receiver into the unit, the remote stopped work. If I unplug the IR receiver and use the remote with the HD300 without it, the remote works fine.

Is this evidence of a bad IR receiver?

Well, if the IR receiver is the issue, it must be a whole bad batch. I have three of them, all received this week, that have the same problem.

Question Question for those with the IR receiver

Hello there. My husband and I recently purchased three HD Theatre 300s and 3 IR receivers (the ones sold by SageTV). Unfortunately, we have been unable to get any of the IR receivers to work with any of the HD Theatre. The remote works fine when pointed at the unit, but it does not function at all with the receiver.

So, for those of you who have the IR receivers, did you have to do anything special to get them to work? Or did you just plug them in and they worked correctly.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

I was just about to ask the same question. I just bought one of the IR extender cables from sagetv and when I plug it in the remote doesn't work at all. Even when pointing the remote at the built-in IR receiver. As soon as I unplug the cable the remote immediately begins to work.

Count me in as well, bought 3 right after Christmas - 1 of the 3 didn't to work. It also goes with out saying that this is the only one I didn't trial before burying it behind my TV......

Anyone having a problem with the HD300 external IR receiver cables purchased from the SageTV store should contact SageTV for a solution.

Looks like Sage is sending me a new IR cable tomorrow. I didn't even have to complain to get one. Nice!

I'm pleased to hear that everyone has had a successful resolution to the external IR receiver problem. I'm still waiting for George from SageTV to get back to me, but given the positive response I'm hoping to get the same positive treatment!
