TV Wonder 600 PCIE will not install on Windows 7

I recently bought a DiamondMM TV Wonder 600 PCIE card for my Windows 7 X64 PC. Neither the included driver nor a newer one from Diamond would install (hung during device detection). I even had to use Process Manager to kill it. I spoke with Diamond tech support and the rep said this was caused by a Windows update and no fix was in sight. The card has been returned for refund. He recommended I try the TV Wonder 750 PCIE (advanced version of the 600 card). The rep also told me that the 600 had only been tested on the 1st release of Win 7 and was not really supported (even though it says Windows 7 on the box and their website).

Has anyone tried the TV Wonder 750 PCIE (I don't want to use another USB slot,so I'm going for the PCIE card).

Is there some reason you don't want to use one of the supported cards for SageTV? Like the Hauppauge WinTV HVR-2250 or the SiliconDust HDHomeruns? You're going to have better luck with supported hardware.

Mostly because the HD750 is 1/3 the cost of the Win TV 2250. I already have an HDHomerun with 2 ports, and I really only "need" this card because it will let me record from my old VHS tapes to digital files, so I can burn them to DVD's. The list of cards in the forum's 1st post lists cards that don't exist anymore, so I suspect not enough people are posting their successes sand failures.

You could also look at something like Roxio Easy VHS to DVD-usb to various inputs and software-$50 and that's it only function.

For a one-time only conversion, I wouldn't bother trying to get special equipment working with SageTV. I'd use a separate workstation (maybe with XP?), with whatever software is provided by the vendor, and go thru the conversion process with that machine. Afterwards, you can transfer the files to SageTV to watch, or burn to DVD, or whatever. IMO, no sense monkeying with SageTV and risk goofing up a working configuration if you don't need to.

But if you really, really want to add a card to your SageTV machine, the Hauppauge WinTV HVR-2250 is on special right now at Newegg for $95, which gets you a second tuner and hardware encoding. You might find it could come in handy for other things, or as a backup in case your HDHR were to have a hardware failure...

OK. I'm convinced. At $104 from Amazon (no re-stocking fee, free shipping), I ordered the 2250 (no IR Blaster, no remote). I do want to use the analog capability to record from cable as well as from my VCR.
