Can you give me more details on what happens, I don't remember that problem.

Just for the record, I was playing FLAc files for a bout an hour this morning with this beta and the HD300 crashed and turned itself off. When I turned it back on, I couldn't play music or a TV recording. I rolled back to the last release version and got everything back. I just thought about it, but I probably should have done a reboot by pulling the plug before I rolled back versions. I've sent a ticket on this issue.

Demo,

Occassionally on R5000 recordings there will be some type of timeline error in them. Once you get to that point in the file, playback becomes erratic. Sometimes it will speed up, other times it will skip backwards. If you try to seek to another position in the file, it won't allow you and will instead skip backwards to a certain point. Basically unwatchable. Using VideoReDo's Quick Stream Fix on these files fixes them, but you have to wait until the file is done recording first (which can be a pain). This happens on the HD100 and HD300 (I assume the HD200 as well, but I don't own one).

I sent 6 problematic recordings to George so he could have the developers look into it. All 6 of these files play perfectly on my SageTV Windows client, just not on the extenders. I asked George about this, and this was his reply on September 7, 2010:

Peter,

Yes there will need to be a firmware update, I just don't know when that
will be out.

George
Hopefully that brings you up to speed.

Demo,

peternm22 describes the timeline issue with an R5000 recording perfectly. I have HD100s, HD200s and an HD300 and can confirm it happens on all three versions of the extender. I'll also add that for me, the timeline issue seems to always appear at least an hour into a recording. Usually during the second half of a football or basketball game.

At what point do I stop waiting the message it's updating and don't touch it till it completes before I assume it's hung?

It's been about 30 minutes.

After 15 minutes you can assume it didn't complete. You might need to restore the system if it doesn't reboot properly after you remove power.

Thanks, I ended up unplug/plug and it came back to the previous firmware. I did the upgrade again and it worked without a hitch. This is the second time that exact scenario occurred when updating firmware.

Same thing happened to me when attempting to upgrade to 20110124-2 - three times in a row it hung at the "don't power off" screen and I had to power off. I tried a fourth time a couple of days later and it upgraded normally.

I've taken most of the HD100 and HD300 betas over the years and this is the first time this has happened.
