I had the same issue. I did a system reset with firmware upgrade which brought the HD300 back to life. Had to reset the settings from NTSC to PAL as well.

Just posting to say I experience about the same. Upgraded to 20101001-0. Disconnect network cable & do Backspace-"Reset", to be sure of clean setup. Go through initial network / HDMI NTSC setup. Get into stand-alone mode. Go into menu, set "Television Standard" to PAL.

Now. At this point I do power-off with remote control. Indicator light on HD300 goes from blue to red. Try to power-on with remote. Nothing happens. It stays red, no reaction.

Now I unplug power cable. Plug it in again. Blue indicator light at once. Inital SageTV logo pretty quick on TV. Then screen goes blank, indicator goes red on HD300. Then no button mashing on on/off will make it go blue again.

So here I stand. No PAL possible. Still using 20101001-0, but letting it stay at NTSC. Every time I try PAL I need to do Backspace-"Reset" to get it up again.

Got it working OK here at PAL 50Hz, using 1080i @ 50 no problems with the new firmware.

Here you go. All these logs have been done with HD300 in stand-alone-mode. I did the Backspace-"Reset". Initial network / HDMI NTSC setup. Get into stand-alone mode. Then powered off. And let it do one boot into stand-alone-mode. Just as a reference for my HD300 when it works. That is what is contained in the log_NTSC_ok.txt attachment.

Then I only did one change, go into menu, set "Television Standard" to PAL. Now I unplug power cable. Plug it in again. Blue indicator light at once. Inital SageTV logo pretty quick on TV. Then screen goes blank, indicator goes red on HD300. Telnet into HD300. Get the log at this point, contained in the log_PAL_fail.txt attachment. I also try to press the power button once on the remote at this point. And get a few more lines in log. Contained in the log_PAL_fail_append.txt attachment.

These two last logs are not too long. Here is the text directly:

100% same here (component to plasma 720×576p @50Hz)

Looking better. Beta firmware 20101005 0 is out.

Had no time to really test it this morning. But did the upgrade, reset config, change to PAL (all in standalone). This time it came up again. And 1920x1080p50 was set. My TV only indicates 1080p, not the Hz. But when I went into HDMI resolution setup again. I got 576i & 576p as modes. And I was able to force output to them, and TV indicated correct modes. Going to go through the whole setup and test later this evening.
Much better though. Now for some coffee

Yes mine seems to be working OK now too :-)

The only wierd thing I've found is that I get wierd flickerings when I connect the HD300 through the AV amp at 1080p. When I connect it directly to the TV its fine.

When I connect the HD200 up through the amp or directly into the TV at 1080p its fine.

I'll have a play with the cables later.

re. the flickering read through this thread:-

http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=50887

I've had the same issue with 1080P when getting the HD300 to run through to my projector, where as the HD100 worked fine on the same setup.... personally I think something is "up" with HDMI on the HD300
