Modifying Extender UI

I'm stuck, which considering my limited coding skill is easy to do. I'm trying to add playback of a network DVD to my extenders in a way that would seriously extend my WAF.

I found the DVD drive path in one of the properties files and changed that to the UNC path for the networked DVD drive. The result is, (unwanted, but still educational) that on a client computer when I hit play for a DVD it plays the DVD in the network drive rather than the local. Well, at least if the client can find it the extenders should be able to also.

I changed a conditional argument in Studio under "Menus" that allowed the "Play DVD" menu item to appear on the extenders. When I try to play the DVD, it seems to be initializing just like the client, but all I get is a black screen.

On the client or an interface on the server, I'd bring up studio at that point and see where it was and what it was trying to do, but I don't know how to do that for an Extender.

For the record, I've been playing DVDs from the network drive by navigating through the file browser for a while, but I'd like a nicer solution.

On an extender you'd need to map a remote button to the "customize" command (or maybe use a keyboard?), and the studio interface should pop up on the server. I think.

Or, look into wrapping your change into a plugin (just keep the plugin in SageTVPluginsDev.xml and it will remain local to just you). then you can make the change once, and 'install' that plugin on the extenders.
