i don't think netflix has a hard fast number anymore, but they do prioritize the certification requests by potential audience size. I have seen them mention in multiple places that they're goal is netfix available on every screen.

Awhile back I wrote an autohotkey script that did just that. Playon and Boxee does basically that same thing, but in a hidden window. The results are less than perfect, but it does work.

I used to be very anti-DRM (and still somewhat are), but given the choice of not being able to use Sage any longer once the full digital transition happens, or going to a cable provided tuner on every TV, I'll take DRM on Sage.

Sage? Whatever it takes to get cablecard support. I don't care if the files are encrypted, so long as I can watch it on any HD300. I rarely save off TV episodes now anyway.

While I realize this probably won't have any impact on it happening, I figured I'd at least mention the fact that I have never used Netflix, nor do I currently have any plans of ever using. HOWEVER, if SageTV added it, I would absolutely sign up for a trial membership.

I'll echo the previous posters comments. I've never used Netflix, but I've considered trying it out since the price is very reasonable. The thing that stops me is that I don't currently have a way of playing it on my TV. I don't have any interest in buying another box (Apple TV or Roku), and the Playon option seems a bit clunky to me.

If SageTV added native Netflix support, I would definitely give it a go.

I think if we had PlayOn HD and if Plucky and EP could add PlayOn browsing fanart and metadata to Diamond (not that the current queue sorting isn't awesome, which it is) we'd hear less complaining about an official netflix plugin.

Having said that, according to PlayOn you would need a CPU that gets at least a 3500 cpu score on passmark in order to transcode HD content real-time. I have tested my gaming PC that has an q8400 quad core overclocked to 3.3ghz and it got right under 5000. I tested my server CPU that is an e6300 oc'd to 2.8 ghz and it got a 1700. I tested my i3 client running stock at 2.93ghz and it got a 3100. As you can see there are some powerful little cpu's out there right now that are fully capable of transcoding HD video real-time so we need to bombard the thread I posted earlier of cpu scores showing them that there are plenty of us that can use PlayOn HD.

I agree 100%. It's like you were speaking my mind.

Sage's biggest weakness is lack of cablecard support. EOT.
