AnyDVD as a service

I haven't tried running AnyDVD as a service, but since I'm not too concerned about the security ramifications of local console access on my headless media server, I have it set to auto-login to a user account on start-up.

Well, one of the Slysoft developers replied and said that he would also like it to run as a service and that now that they have kicked W98/ME to the curb that it might happen.
I might go back to autologin in the meantime but I am going to investigate SrvAny and others first. S |

I am not certain, but it runs as a service for MyMovies, which is a MCE application. Runs on WHS 2003. If it does there, then it should other places.
I am not certain about any of this though.

I used AnyServiceInstaller to create a service for AnyDVD. Works perfect on my WHS box, and I've also tested it successfully in W7 x64. You can find out more about it here: http://forum.wegotserved.com/index.p...ice-installer/
Edit: I was mistaken. I didn't use the AnyServiceInstaller on W7x64. Instead, I simply used Task Scheduler (Control Panel) to start AnyDVD when the computer starts. I've confirmed that my Extenders can play streamed BluRay/DVD's from the headless server without any user logged in. Hope that helps.

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed to know. I'll try the Task Scheduler method tonight after installing the latest Sage beta. I should have thought about using TS. I'm getting rusty.
