Media Management Poll @ Missing Remote

We posted a poll at Missing Remote to get a feel for what everyone is using to manage their libraries. Go on over and make sure the SageTV get's the love it deserves.

I have to admit, i was little confused by the poll title and the options available. I thought the poll was about what people used to manage their video library, but the options (in my mind) consisted of only a couple of collection managers and a bunch of htpc Uis/Applications.

I voted just the same for SageTV, although I don't really consider SageTV as "managing" my media (bmt/phoenix does that for me), but it does allow me to watch it.

Personally I think the poll should have been split into 2 polls... You primary media playback system (ie, Xbmc, SageTV, W7MC, Boxee, Plex, AppleTV, etc) and media organization tools (My Movies, YAMJ, DVD Profiler, etc)

Could be because you think about the guts as being separate from the UI

I do not see the point in having SageTV Diamond Movies, SageTV My Movies when it still all part of SageTV just Like Media Browser and MediaPortal Moving Pictures they are all Plugin.

Because that's the question the poll is asking - what do you primarily use to organize/view your media.

Each of the items is a discrete experience for consuming content.

Wait... so the SageTV My Movies is actually referring to SageTV + Sage My Movies (the plugin by PluckyHD)? I thought it was just referencing the MM backend.

I agree. I think because of my background, I see the word "manage" as being something that will allow me to edit my collection's information to enable it to be organized, but some of those options don't really allow for that, but they all allow me to consume my content in some shape or form. (Maybe except for YAMJ, I think it just exports metadata information, not sure it has a "consume" ability).

Opions like SageTV + Diamond, really need a 3rd parameter... SageTV + Diamond + MyMovies or SageTV + Diamond + BMT or SageTV + Diamond + MyMovies + BMT (for tv support), since without propper metadata, most of these "organaizers" can't really organize

But either way, a vanilla, SageTV option was there, so there really is something for everyone
