Hmm. That link just jumps to a redirect back to my Google+ profile as if the posted link is invalid... There are 3 Brent Evans in G+ right now. One does not have an associated profile pic. Is that you?

The invite didn't show up. I hear that even those of us with the free google apps can't yet use G+, so perhaps gmail ate it.

Brent, thanks for the invite the other day. I already created my own SageTV circle, but as I understand it nobody else knows what circles I have and who is in those circles. So if I post something to my SageTV circle, what happens when you reply to that? Who sees your reply? This looks cool, I'm just trying to understand how it all works.
FMAX: I agree about Facebook. Circles seems like a pretty natural feature for social networking.

Circles aren't much different than Facebook groups, except the facebook groups are a more sharable entity. The Google circles exist only within your own domain. For something like this SageTV support group, circles are inferior to facebook groups, simply because it is up to each individual user to add each other individual user.

Facebook does have a "circle" type capability, and it's been around for years.
It just requires digging around in their interface and some other various steps to create the list which is their version of the Google+ circle. Then whenever you make a post, you get to go through another series of hoops to restrict your post to just that list of people... And that precaution has been known to mysteriously fail to work on occasion with "entertaining results" to naturally follow. |

The following errors occurred with your submission:
Is there anyway to request "entry" into a circle from within G+? Sending PMs seems so 1990s.

Is it just me or will Google+ simple be the geek corner of social networking. Much like Linked-In is the professional corner and Facebook is the catch all.
I doubt any of my family/relatives will be on Google+ until Google+ support 3rd party apps and someone ports farmville ![]() As for circles... aren't they private? No one else can see your circles... so when you add me to your G+ circles, I could just as well be in your "Annoying and Egotistical SageTV Users" circle and I wouldn't know the the difference. From what I can tell, it's really a way for me to organize some of my streams, so I can click on my "SageTV" circle and see what you guys are saying (if you are in my circle) but I won't see what's in Brent's SageTV circle (nor will I even know if he has a SageTV circle). Does Google+ support the notion of a public group (ie, like facebook)?

Sorry about that guys. My message limit was exceeded last night as I stepped away to watch a few movies. Haven't done that in a very long time.
Anyway, send me your email via private message and I'll add you. Facebook does have a way to do something like circles. But it leaves a lot to be desired imo and I personally only use Facebook for close friends and family. Have to have a separation there since it's very difficult to post only to certain groups there. In Google+ I'll do a roll-call this afternoon and then post a list of everyone wanting to be on the list. We can use this as sort of a link-sharing tool, messaging tool, a place for impromptu text and/or video chats etc. Should be fun. |
