Just realized that my work pc is windows 7 32bit. Here is a screen capture of where the setting is. I installed sagetv on a pc that has never had it before and the setting is there after playing a file. If you don't have the setting something is wrong.

In my case I believe it was using the sagetv demux because even though I removed Shark007. I didn't set everything back to normal before I uninstalled it. When I then (after the codec pack removal) installed Haali the settings that I didn't clear prevented Haali from registering correctly so Sage choose it's own splitter because as far as my system was concerned that was the only REGISTERED splitter. I know it was using the SageTV splitter even with the registry setting because I did not get the "Haali Media Splitter" system tray icon. FFDShow icons did show up however. |

I have this card on the way.. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125367 Specifically, what do I need to do to use LAV CUVID in Sage when the card arrives? Will it be used within Sage with EVR or with EVR Custom? Supposedly EVR Custom is almost as good as madVR.... From what I understand Media Portal works great with LAV Splitter and LAV CUVID with EVR Customwithin Media Portal itself and LAV Cuvid + madVR is fantastic via an external player (ie MPC-HC) for Blu-Ray and DVD content. If I can't get playback of most content (MKV, BDMV, DVD MPEG2) working well in Sage (works great in external players), then it may be time to try Media Portal now that my HD300's have found good homes on eBay. I hear Media Portal come a long way on the TV front with PC clients. Thanks! |

I just realized that V7 breaks my .mkv AVC/264 and VC-1 playback in SageTV.
I upgraded a month ago (on WinXP SP3 Clients), and just now tried to play back a ripped AVC, and a ripped VC-1. Also broke some downloaded lower-res mkv's. These .mkv's are set up with Haali Splitter, Cyberlink Decoder for the AVC and MPCVideoDecoder for VC-1. Looks like the Haali Splitter is no longer being chosen in Sagetv. Is it possible to get Haali working again, or is it dead in V7? Sorry....can't definitely tell from this thread. |

ditto on the post above. I've gone into:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Frey Technologies\Common\DirectShow and set EnableSageTVStreamDemux to 0 but Sage is still using somthing other than Haali. I'm trying to use CoreAVC with it's own Haali but am not having any luck. Did I miss somthing else that I need to do? Any update to this that the original op can tell us? I've attached two debug logs: sagetv_1.txt sagetvclient_3.txt I don't know what I should be looking for in either logs. I did a search for "haali" and it was listed in the DShowFilters= section but then never used or listed else where in either log. They both had a similar time stamp on the file creation time. I use my Sage as a client I do run the Sage service. Win 7 x64 Sage 7.1.9 CoreAVC XVID AC3Filter Thx AWS

I don't even see an attempt to play anything in that client log, so it's not going to show you anything.

... and here are the logs
Alright, thanks for the heads up on that. Attached are two log *_0 files - sagetv_0 and sagetvclient_0. I trimmed off all data that came before today's date so I could made the 750Kb limit of this forum.
Just before stopping Sage to write this message I previewed CSI: Crime... and Terra Nova. I didn't see an problems with playback in CSI (But I was in/out of the room unloading the van from the weekend) but in the opening with Terra Nova I see my typical issue where the scene freezes with the exception of whatever is moving (car, etc). But that isn't the point of this thread. I have that issue open in another post. Here I'm just trying to get Sage to use the Haali stuff that comes with CoreAVC (hoping maybe solving that will solve my issue freezing scenes). Any help is appreciated. It looks like: Sun 11/13 17:04:10.927 [AWT-EventQueue-0@13a328f] DShowPlayer setVideoDecoderFilter0(CoreAVC Video Decoder) called the correct codec is being called but ... Sun 11/13 17:04:11.203 [AWT-EventQueue-0@13a328f] DShowGraphFilters=Default DirectSound Device,VidRend,Video Decoder,Audio Decoder,SageTV Stream Demux,... but looking at this line it appears it's still using Sage native splitter (?) and not Haali. Thanks for looking. AWS ![]()

the enablestreamdemux is only for .mkv, .mov, and other stuff I don't use. For .ts, .m2ts, .mpg, and most anything else sage will use it's own splitter. There is a way to disable it, but you would break live tv in the process.
After looking at your log, you may have a merit issue. Grab dshow filter manager and see what haali's merit is set to. I use the mpc splitter (gabest) and it works perfectly with my .mkv's.

I use MKVs almost exclusively. I use Sage for playback, not recording.
Can you elaborate some on how to "break live TV" since I don't ever use that portion of Sage? No tuners... Is that already in another thread? Thanks, I'll double check the merit again and fix if needed. If memory serves, I think there are 5 different levels. Should I have it on the "extreme", top-most merit or just +1? I don't remember the verbage now so I know I'm asking it wrong. Thanks. AWS

Lower the SageTV splitter to normal and raise Haali to +1.

Whoops
Ok, I did that... but I did that to all haali * filters and all sage demux * filters. When it comes to filters, I have no idea what a "sink" is, kinda an idea what a "splitter" is, not sure what a "demuxer" is... now I have:
sage.PlaybackException: Error (-4,0x80040217): There was a problem rendering the video portion of the content for playback. I've had this before. I will just try to re-install CoreAVC ontop of itself. I'll post results. On some topics I feel like that chimp that got shot up into space... kinda out of my element. ************************* EDIT: Ok, a simple reinstall took care of that playback exception. Now I am seeing the CoreAVC icon in the systray. But I am not seeing the Haali icon. Haali shows up in all the other media players I test with (MS Media Player, and the media player built into GraphStudio). A check in the log file should reveal which splitter is being used, right? ************************* EDIT #2: Tue 11/15 20:01:16.753 [AWT-EventQueue-0@13a328f] DShowGraphFilters=Default DirectSound Device,VidRend,Video Decoder,Audio Decoder,SageTV Stream Demux,... looks to still using the SageTV demux. is it possible that you didnt stop the sagetv service before configuring the EnableSageTVStreamDemux parameter in the registry and then restart the service? (the start/restart I believe should pickup the change - otherwise a reboot will)

With that setting disabled and the fact that you use .mkv's you shouldn't see the sage demuxer when playing an .mkv. This is what I see when I disable the sage splitter: DShowGraphFilters=AudRend,VidRend,Audio Decoder,Video Decoder,MPC - Matroska Splitter,\\newserver\2tb2\TV Shows\Lost\Season 5\Lost - S05E12 - Dead is Dead.mkv,

Alrighty, I found a second spot in the Windows registry where the value was hiding in. I changed that value to 0 and am now testing.
First changed location: COMPUTER/HKCU/Software/Classes/VirtualStore/Machine/Software/Wow6432Node/Frey Technologies/Common/DirectShow Other registry location: COMPUTER/HKLM/Software/Wow6432Node/Frey Technologies/Common/DirectShow ![]() Thanks for your help. I believe this will take care of it now. Keeping fingers crossed. **************** EDIT: looks that that second registry key was the fix. Thanks for all your help. AWS

In windows 7 you need to change this entry in the following locations.
DWORD EnableSageTVStreamDemux=0 HKLM\Software\Frey Technologies\Common\DirectShow\ if UAC is enabled the registry keys may also be under: HKEY_USERS\<user id token>\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Frey Technologies\ HKEY_USERS\<user id token>\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Frey Technologies\ |
