Colossus & Interference

Hi Everyone,
I'm at a loss here with this one. I have 2 Colossus' connected to 2 HD STB's. One works perfect, the other I am constantly getting a hum and a horizontal interference line in the picture.
Here are the things I've tried:
-Replacing the cable box
-Replacing the component cables
-Making sure the power cords are not touching or close to the video cables
-I even RMA'd the card that I thought was the problem.

Could it possibly be the motherboard or something inside the case? I doesn't make sense that one is working perfect and the other isn't

Nothing has worked. Has anyone had any issues like this. It's so frustrating listening to the hum in half the shows I record. Other than this, the setup is GREAT!

Are they both in 1x,4x or 2x slots or is the on that is not working in a graphics slot? Have you switched the cards to see if it changes which one works that would tell you it is a slot/motherboard issue.

Hey Plucky,
They are both in a x1 slot. If you click on the MB link in my profile you will see where they are.

I haven't tried moving them yet. It's so tricky to get them setup again, I've been avoiding it, but I think that's going to have to be the next step. I was wondering more if someone had this issue.

I'll report back on it soon
Dana.

I used to have this with my single Colossus - It turned out to be the nearby PS3 and amp - soon as I moved them further from the server the hum went away. (I used to get a thin green line slowly moving up the screen as well).

Cheers

Mark

That's exactly what I get. But what is weird it's only happening to one and not the other.
I do have to try what Plucky said and move the cards around. The hum is extremely irritating.

A few thoughts

1. Try just swapping the inputs to each card. If the interference moves, its external. If it does not, its internal.
2. Since it is on both video and audio, is there any chance the breakout dongle is bad? Try another?
3. Maybe the outputs on the box are bad, try swapping boxes?

If it stays constantly locked on one card it has to be either the card (which you rma'd, so likely no) or the pyshical location in the box. I know mine was next to my video card which put off heat and hum from the fan.
