IR Flasher/repeater help

I've never dealt with these before so I don't even know where to start....

A recent renovation in our house has me with an HD100 in a location where it's not within direct remote control line-of-sight from all frequented locations in the room. What I want is a device that would have a IR receiver eye that would mount at the TV (stick on, or be strapped on somehow), and then a wire that runs to the HD100 where I could stick the flasher onto the HD100's eye. Simple, one-in, one-out. Obviously there would have to be some powered device (I assume) involved; does anyone make a simple inline battery-powered device that does this?

I looked around online briefly but all I see are multi-eye/flasher devices meant to power entire hidden AV systems, or else receiver eyes with a 3.5mm plug meant to go into a device that has native equipment built in.

Help?

I've never seen a battery-powered device like this, but there are plenty of A/C-powered units. Some are as simple as extending an receiver with a 1/8" mini plug to a block emitter device, while others allow the signal to be sent down RG-6 coaxial cable. Either solution is relatively cheap. Check places like Monoprice, Parts Express or Cable Wholesale for options ...

I've used Xantech stuff before. They have a simple 1 zone/1 source IR connector block that is basically what you are asking for except it is powered, not battery powered.

You simply plug in an emitter to the block and stick it on your HD-100. You also need an IR receiver as well.

You can use either a normal wire (something with at least 3 strands - I've used cat5e wire successfuly) to extend either the emitter or the receiver to get to the other device, or Xantech has a system in which you can inject the IR signal into a coaxial cable. So as long as there is a coaxial cable hook up in both locations, you could use that wire instead.

PS - I have a couple of those simple 1 zone 1 source blocks laying around here somewhere. If you are interested, PM me and I'll mail one to you. I don't need them, so you can just have one - probably with an emitter too. However, you would still need to get a power supply and a IR receiver.

I have several of the Cables To Go 40430 extenders which are cheap and work well with the HD300 (and various other stuff) though it's touchy with my DirecTV H24 receiver (needs 2 eyes).

Like the Xantechs you can extend the eye that comes with it, and the receiver block also has 4 conductor leads that you can hook a piece of Cat5 or whatever to run a remote receiver eye. That way you have the block and 'flasher' close to your remote HD300, and only string a single wire for the remove receiver eye. The Cables to Go 40478 IR Wall Plate Receiver (and no name equivalents from eBay) work perfectly for that purpose.
