Anything as smooth as HD300? - want to make movie system for parents

but Sagetv store does not sell anything anymore and do not like buying used products off ebay -- plus they look a little pricey the few I saw on there.

I want to store all movies on HTPC and use sage hd300 extender. I went back to tivo through my cable company for recording but still use sagetv for rips - as it is very smooth and works well -- never have any hang ups. Always connects to HTPC - just a great experience.

Any word if Google is coming out with similar product?

There's nothing else that will work with SageTV. Though there are options (WD TV Live, Dune, etc) that can play movies/media from a PC network share if you're willing to part with SageTV.

As far as updates from Google, you know what we all know, nothing really. I want to hope there will be an announcement from Google at CES next week, but I really don't expect anything.

Yea this Google thing really is a bugger.

You can be sure something will come out. It's just a matter of when and if it will be compatible with existing Sage goodness.

Are you sticking with Tivo or do you require TV/PVR in this alternative also?

i just set my parents up with Plex MEdia Server -- dead simple to use

and they had 1 roku... i bought them another for Christmas and they absolutlely love the setup.

they watch TVshows, Home Movies and Movies via the plex channel.

My parents are 59, and its simple enough for them.
