Ubuntu TV?
This just out:
Canonical are releasing a variant of Ubuntu targeted towards use on TV's. The video looks pretty sweet and seems like a possible alternative to Sage. It's probably just for the HTPC market, don't know if it could work with a server/extender model. It would be great if we could utilise the sweet HD300 with it. http://www.ubuntu.com/tv |

Looks interesting... Might be my next DVR platform once Sage finally bites the bullet.
