Looks like a nice find. Does something like this work with HD200 / HD300?

It should work with the HD300. On the HD200 the mouse interface hasn't been completed (although the Linux driver is there) or disabled in the STV when HD200 is detected, but not sure as I'm not a Studio expert.

EDIT: If you plug into the HD300 a standard USB microsoft mouse, a rather vertically squeezed mouse pointer will show, however its movement is not pure "absolute" really, it looks like more a fast sequence of key press

I finally got mine today, after 2 delivery attempts and a trip to the UPS place. Apparently Lenovo requires a signature in person.

The device itself works fine on the HD300 and on my computer. Not at all on the HD200, as expected.

It has some keys for media playback and control, but I couldn't get them to work -- presumably they require the drivers that were included, but obviously I can't install them on my HD300.

I actually didn't try out the mouse feature on the HD300... I was more focused on being able to enter text into search boxes. But it worked pretty well when I tested it out on my laptop.

Is not much the trouble to upload the driver on the extender which is dead easy is more the fact that the drivers must be compiled with the same version as the kernel version on the extender. (On the HD200 is more critical because the kernel has been compiled with "modvers" flag enable which means that you have even match the CRCs checksum for every function...it was a nightmare for my squeezeslave project and the way I did it is completely off topic...)

Both the HD300/HD200 supports standard Microsoft USB Mouse and Keyboard devices, and if you insert a mouse on the HD200 you'll see the mouse being recognised by the kernel and mounted properly. I suspect that the fact that the mouse/keyboard doesn't work on the HD200 is because its handling is somehow disabled in the STV.

The mouse movement on the HD300 is weird and looks like a very quick sequence of key press, not particularly brilliant; it is more useful with a touch screen, but the Standard V7 interface is nearly 100% touch screen friendly and will require some minor tweaks.

I have the earlier version of this kbd. No backlight was my biggest issue with it. I never thought to try it with my HD300.

Guess I have something to do tonight.
