Issue With Extender when pluggin in Ooma
I have an issue when connecting an Ooma Hub after my router. Here is my setup:
Switch – Server/Networked Printer/Ooma Hub (switch after router, but spaces deleted) / Modem – Router \ Switch – Computer/Sage Extender (switch after router, but spaces deleted) If I leave the default address of 172.35.2.1 everything work except when I stream to the extender it freezes or shuts off after two minutes. Was thinking this was related to the different IP address running on the same line. I was thinking I could change to 192.168.2.1, but that is the address of my router and the Ooma stops working. Anyone come across this problem and have a solution? Thanks Gabe |

I have my ooma set up like this modem->router->ooma,pcs,etc
I haven't had any problems with any devices with this set up. Using the ooma ip set by ooma. Not sure if this helps you or not.

Gabe,
I'm unable to follow your diagram, but agree with last poster that you should not put your Ooma in the chain before your router/switch. I had problems when I did this, even though it's what Ooma recommends (though they say it might work other way as well). |

I have my Ooma completely seperated from the rest of my network. I have my modem, then the router/firewall, then the switch where everything lives. Off this switch is my Ooma. There is nothing "behind" the Ooma and I have the outside address on the Ooma forwarded to the internal web management page. There is some documentation on the Ooma support site.

Can you explain this further or provide a link to the Ooma docs?

My Ooma is just plugged into one of my network jacks in the living room.
My linkup goes: Incoming Cable TV/Internet wire(Comcast)> Modem> 10/100 router(just upgraded to Gigabit wired/wireless router)> Gigabit 16 port switch> one jack in the house per switch connection. I've had the network setup like this for many years and added the Ooma Telo over a year ago. I saw their "how to hook it up" diagram and much like the ones you get with your Cable system, and other electronics their instructions are not very good for people with something other than a very basic setup. My only issue of any kind was getting a dialup modem to work with it. A * code in the dialing string fixed that. I was prepping a new/used computer for my Dad and all he has is dialup so I had to set it up for use on a landline.
