My last weather update is from the end of August. I wonder why Sage isn't addressing the issue.

I believe Opus said he would look at it when he had a chance so it sounds like he intends to do something about it.

Thumbs up Gemstone

Meanwhile... back on Gemstone (you can select any weather provider; even Google works correct):

The Google/NWS weather in Gemstone should NOT be working as it calls the same code as Opus does in Sage.... it must be old info you are seeing with the provider set to Google.

But you are correct in that you can select Yahoo or World Weather in Gemstone (private testing right now) to get 2 other flavors of weather info.

This is not just a SageTV issue..

For those of you who think this is a SageTV only issue, please read this:

http://nerdvittles.com/?p=2347

It seems Google has killed the API for unknown reasons.

PS - You should also read the other article on how to run Asterisk on Raspberry Pi

It was never officially supported. More from an earlier post in this thread.

I restated this because a few posts above were wondering when Opus would fix.. Point is he can't.

Well... he can't by using the Google API's but he could refit the current jar to use another API... or convert it to call the phoenix core weather calls.

Either way... there is a lot of work involved in solving this issue.

I am very busy with Gemstone right now so I do not have any spare time but perhaps if EVERYONE doesn't migrate to using Gemstone then perhaps I could write a plugin for SageTV7 default to use the phoenix core weather that Gemstone is using too.

But no promises that I will do that at this time.... but hopefully you can all try out Gemstone soon.

And really, why wouldn't EVERYONE migrate? So far it looks and feels quite good.

I've already mentioned that I'll be looking into this, so I'm not sure why some people seem to think I've abandoned it. The only question is "when" and I can't really answer that.

Understood that you are operating on a volunteer basis. Thanks and know that many appreciate the effort.

I just did an image restore of Windows. My sageTV installation is from back in October 2011. After I updated the SageTV STV to the latest, it's wanting to install the Google Weather Library.

Should select "No. Dont show this message again"? Or, "No. Check again later"? I have a very clean installation; and, don't want to install anything that isnt/won't be used.

I think that Skybolt does have a point. The EPG is the only core online service that's still working. IMO, Youtube being broken seems to be a much more significant loss than seeing the temperature outside. In fact, my baby had just started to learn how to search and playback youtube videos. Hopefully, there will be an updated STV soon.
