Windows 8 and Sage TV V6 compatible?

It has been sometime since I had to do some technical research with regards to compatibility. I just recently upgraded my OS to windows 8. I reinstalled Sage TV V6 and the install went fine, but when I launch Sage TV the splash screen comes up and when the UI finally comes up the screen is black. My fear is that V6 is not windows 8 compliant???? Any verification on this? If so, will V7 work fine?

Thank you in adavance

I do know that sage v7 DOES work just fine with windows 8 - though I have no idea why sage 6 wouldn't. usually, a completely black screen indicates a video driver issue, or java issue.

Did you copy over the settings for your previous install or did you start from a fresh Install?... If you copied over the settings it is not a good Idea. Sage 7 works fine and so does Sage 6.

This is the same computer I was running Sage on fine for quite some time with Vista 32. Now upgraded to Win 8 Pro 64 and have this black screen issue. I'm running the version of java that was in the install. SEv1.4.2_13
Any suggestions to what version of java to run?

Thanks for the heads up that Sage V6 should work fine!!!

I did do a fresh install of Sage....

I'm running it on 2 machines.

I have a laptop that will not run metro apps. tried refresh, reinstall, nothing works.

On my PC I have to click install over and over and over again to get apps from the store. Sometimes after finally getting them to install they just go away.

Windows 8 will be great once they release SP1 to remove Metro all together. Other than that its okay. I like Win7 better.

IMO, there's significant merit and benefits to running SageTV 7 (instead of a previous version, including 6). This is especially true since anyone with a v5 or v6 key can run v7. But for a SageTV system, I can't think of a single reason to run Windows 8 instead of Windows 7.

However, Windows 7 is much preferred over Windows XP, if only for how it uses disk space. XP always caused issues for Sage on my systems when drives were even remotely full - no issues with Win7.
