HDHomeRun Prime / SageDCT Proper Channel Setup
I couldn't find this documented anywhere. I am wondering what the correct process is to setup channels using HDHR Prime and SageDCT. I have Comcast and there are a number of channels that I don't get a signal or don't want. What I am confused about is do I use the HDHR GUI Setup, scan channels, preview and enable disable, or do I leave that alone as it originally scanned and use the SageTV channel manager to do this?

I disable non-used channels in the HDHR software, it speeds up the channel scan in SageTV.

OK, so maybe I need to ask, are there advantages to either way?

The Best way to do it is using the Web Browser. Open up the web page of the Prime go to the channel lineup Detect all channels ... You should then get a list of all the channels that can be tuned by SAGE. If a channel you subscribe to is not there means you cannot record it in Sage. Then you can simply enable these channels in your lineup and disable the others.

I get it, thanks for the tip. This is very useful. Is there a quicker way to edit channels in SageTV. I only know of the channel manager but I am thinking another way like editing a settings file might be quicker to just enable/disable channels based on the Prime's channel listing.
Thanks for the help.

I personally like the channel manage in Gemstone (program guide->options->channel manager) since it allows you to see/configure your channels across tuners/lineups.
