Using SageTV 'Custom' commands

How does one go about using the 5 'Custom' commands that can be seen when mapping IR codes to Sage functions?

I'm trying to set it up so that I can use one of my remote buttons to toggle the closed captions...

That would have to be done in a UI Mod plugin to hook into those custom commands, and change the CC state.

So... not something I can just add to my Sage.properties file. Bummer.

How does one go about making a UI mod anyway? Is there a how-to or tutorial somewhere for a novice?

You need to use Studio.
There is a whole subforum under: SageTV Community > SageTV Customizations > SageTV Studio

There is a sticky there about Getting Started with Studio:
http://forums.sagetv.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13823

This is probably the best place to start.

Thanks!

I read the tutorials and I have it working the way I want now. Now I just need to turn it into a plugin so I won't have to edit it every time the Gemstone guys issue an update.
