HD300 Lockups When Idle
I bought a used HD300 a while back, and I swear its been finicky from day one. It just seems a little slower and a little more likely to pause in the menus than my other HD300. What's weird is that the glitchy one is hardwired, while the other uses a wireless-n bridge.
Those things are sort of hard to objectively measure, though. I don't really know if its that much worse, but it seems that way. But, one way it is definitely worse is that this HD300 will lock-up after ~30 minutes of inactivity. Almost every time. My old one doesn't do that. Any thoughts what it could be? I thought it was maybe network related (though, not sure why it wouldn't impact both extenders in that case, since the bridge goes through the same switches), but replacing my network equipment didn't help. I thought maybe it was server related, but building a new server with a decent Intel PCIe network adapter didn't help. So, I'm running out of ideas. Is it just a bad HD300? |

Did you try applying the latest beta firmware to see if the issue would resolve?

I'm running the latest beta.
Do you think I should try re-loading it? To do that I guess I'd either have to downgrade to the last non-beta then upgrade, or I could load it on a flash drive. |

It's worth a shot I suppose. I purchased an HD300 on Ebay a while back and it has had similar issues it seems (very disappointing for what I paid for it). It starts to slow down once in a while, but a pull of the power cord for a minute or two seems to bring it back to life.
Please keep the forum updated in regards to how this pans out. |

I haven't gotten around to re-flashing the firmware yet, but I did notice one thing. Sometimes my HD300s will hang on power-up, and I swear the LED on the front looks a little purple. Has anyone else noticed that?

When you get a moment, do a quick forum search for the word "purple" - should give you something to go on.

Yeah, I saw the other threads, but I didn't see anything conclusive, other than its apparently not good. I don't think its related to the IR receiver- neither of my HD300's have the same problem with the the IR receiver that feekill was having.
I suppose it could be the power supply, as suggested here, but both recently-purchased HD300s have that problem. They're both using original power supplies, though. I haven't tried to buy a new one. |
