Have you tried disabling detection on live TV?
Detection had been nearly flawless before my fresh install.

Based on my viewing patterns the loss of live TV detection would be a significant issue.

I'll try the old version tomorrow when I have some time to tinker.

I was having problems with live detection on 0.81.077 and the 0.81.078 that was pulled. I ended up falling back to 0.81.076 and it works fine. Not sure what change was made but I had a short exchange with Erik. The impression that I got was that he didn't think there was a problem. I hope his attitude has changed since then.

Did you ever resolve this issue?

I just completed a fresh SageTV install and downloaded the latest donator version 81_077 and have found that it no longer processes file correctly. I see the same behavior as some others where if I delete comskip and re-run it processes just fine.

I noticed this a while back as well (year or so) and remember I had to revert to an older version that had been working (maybe 81_051?).

I'll re-attach my old boot drive tonight and confirm which version had been working for me.

I was hoping that some other poor soul had already troubleshot this issue for me and I could simply install the latest and greatest version. Unfortunately that's not the case. Do you think Erik would help if we contacted him?

As a couple people suggested I shut off live comskipping and have it wait until the program is done recording. I didn't want to do that, but it improved it immensly. It still isn't as accurate as the older versions, but comskip doesn't crash as often. (I used to get sometimes dozens of alerts on rebooting my Windows server machine once a month or so, about "comskip encountered a problem.....". Now I don't see those, so I guess there's a tradeoff.

On the rare occasion when I do want to watch something while its recording (sports, racing, etc) I'll juse use the "Run Comskip" command in the enhanced info dialog for a recording.

On a side note that might be related to its accuracy problems. I have on occasion noticed while watching something as it records that you'll see the commercial marking rught up until comskip reaches the end of processing and suddenly they all disappear and you end up with no markings. It doesn't happen all the time, but I have seen it on multiple occasions.

Interesting that you mention that error. I used to see that all the time on my WHS v1 but haven't seen it since I upgraded? to WHS2011. I've run for months on WHS2011 without seeing it. I think the Comskip version was the same between both OS's.

I'm going to revert back to my last known good Comskip version or try the version mentioned above tonight and see if it fixes my live TV issue.

So, I rolled back to 81_051 last night and can once again successfully Comskip live TV. I then tried 81_076 and found that Live TV skipping does not work with my setup.

If I get some time I'll see if I can narrow down which version breaks my setup in case Erik or someone on the sage plugin side want to take a look.

You might try changing the standoff parameter in your comskip.ini to 8000000. It says to set it that way for live TV in BTV but I've never had issues using that high of a value with SageTV.

I have an issue where I think comskip is marking the file pretty close to correctly, but it seems to get worse as the file gets toward the end of the show. It's farther and farther off if the show is longer...

I recall seeing something about a Sage parameter that might account for this, but can't recall what it was and so far my searches have turned up empty. Anyone know what I am kind of remembering??

Go to your Detailed Settings and go to Customize. Scroll all the way down and select Modify on Comskip Playback Options. Then select Operation Options. Change Disable Timeline Scaling to the opposite option. I have mine set to "yes".
