Poster Fanart shows in one view, but not another

I'm dry-running a new server right now, and just playing with Fanart before I deploy this to the family.

I currently have the Cache Type set to OFF, in an effort to remove as many variables from this process as possible. My understanding is that if the fanart is available in the directory, it'll be pulled into Gemstone - no caching needed/involved. I have also cleared the memory and file system cache for good measure.

Videos/Cover Flow shows many, but not all of the posters. When I drill down to Manage Metadata, I can see the posters and backgrounds fine. I can also see all fanart via the BMT www interface. Seems to all be there and functional.

Interestingly, Center Flow *does* show these same posters that aren't visible in Cover Flow.

Everything should be the latest version available in the plugin repository (see attached screenshot.)

So, any thoughts why some of my fanart still doesn't want to show in all views? Might they somehow access different art?

The cache settings are really experimental power user type option. Mostly there for me as I was testing the various ways to speed up browsing. I would recommend using the default cache settings and see if that resolves your issue (background I believe).

As info, the poster in the center flow is actually a diferent "copy" of the original poster as it should not be "shrunk" as much as the wall, stage type poster flows.

I would also recommend running the prebuild for the cache.

OK, thanks.

Reverted to background cache. Deleted memory and file system cache, and prebuilt cache.

Still get same issue - specific posters don't show in cover flow, but do show appear in center flow, in manage metadata, and via BMT.

Any other thoughts of things to try?

Matt

Next guess if all your settings are factory defaults then perhaps you are having this issue reported here

Do you have Gemstone setup to use the folder fanart rather than the Phoenix lookup? Do you have the fanart file naming set?

Maybe some of the images do not follow the logic in the options, like "poster.jpg" etc...

jusjoken will get you sorted out

No, no folder art whatsoever. It's all Pheonix central fanart folder - with the crazy names that they get when they're downloaded.

Thanks, i had skimmed through that earlier, but did re-read it more closely once you linked to it.

Something mentioned in there was simply restarting the server. I hadn't done that in a little while, so i did a net stop/start sagetv, and things actually seem to be marketed improved!

I haven't QC'd everything, but a number of videos that had been problematic are now working OK.

Wonder if there is some logic that only runs at startup? Or some other cache or something that isn't flushed unless the service restarts? Anyway, i seem to be back in business - with an embarrassingly simply fix (I hope.)

Let us know as if that fixed it then it is not the same issue....would be nice for me but the other issue is more complex.... still chasing it

But if the restart fixes your issue I would guess it may have been related to turning OFF the caching but you needed a restart perhaps for that to fully take effect (very little testing was done with that OFF).

Either way....if it's fixed, then why question it
