HD PVR Fan Modification?

Hello - I just got an HD PVR and I was wondering if I should do the fan modification. I'm not sure if hauppauge fixed the problems with it for those that recently purchased it. Any thoughts? Also, what parts do I need? I saw some fans at Best Buy but I'm not sure if there is a specific kind to get.

Thanks,

I think it depends on the environment it is in. I have never had a fan on my HD PVRs and the first one I purchased was from the 1st or 2nd batch that were sold. But mine has been in the basement most of it's life where it is cooler. If yours is in a room temperature or higher environment then a fan might be a good idea.

Mike

I have an original HD PVR and never had a heating issue. It's in a closet that averages about 82°F and it runs just fine.

Thank you for the feedback. I have my Sage setup in the closet in the master bedroom. Ventilation is adequate and temperature in the room is fairly cool. But, I decided to put it on the bottom shelf since heat rises - Hopefully it will be okay. Now I have to decide whether to get a second one when I upgrade the other cable box capture to HD or whether I might run into problems with the PVR2. I really wish the Rocket would work with Sage. It's a lot smaller and only requires power from the USB.
