Digiguide and XMLTV Failure out of the blue! Christmas TV Mayhem, HELP!

Hi Folks,

my XMLTV update failed today with the following message:

http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/wiki/index.php/UK_Digi
12:38:32 - Grab failed during start function of pass 1
12:38:32 - 0 programs found
12:46:36 - Starting pass 1 of grabber UK_Digi
12:46:36 - Logging In
12:46:36 - Error downloading "http://localhost:2402/dologin?password=" : Socket Error # 10054
Connection reset by peer.
12:46:36 - Login failed
12:46:36 - Check the wiki for help:
12:46:36 - http://www.birtles.org.uk/xmltv/wiki/index.php/UK_Digi
12:46:36 - Grab failed during start function of pass 1
12:46:36 - 0 programs found

I have checked Digiguide is working (IT IS) and the web service is still on port 2402 and, I have changed NO SETTINGS at all.

Any ideas what might be happening as it was working last week and, in fact has not failed for 1.5 years.

Just checked and is working fine.

Have your Windows updates switched on? From the error it looks like a socket permission related issue. Please provide your system info, it's pretty hard otherwise.

Even if you haven't changed anything intentionally there is always the possibility that some automatic update has screwed up things, that's why my SageTV has all the updates disabled.

I had a similar issue 2/3 weeks ago. Deleting the password line worked for me.

I might be completely wrong, but my understanding is that he's having problem with XMLTV GUI (Birtles) connecting to Digiguide and not with the XMLTV importer per say.

Probably not this but I hit severe issues with VirtualBox and other things after the latest Microsoft Win 7 updates went out, see this
